Hi friends! It seems like it’s been awhile. This past month has been busier than ever, and I don’t see it slowing down any time soon. The holidays are here, tomorrow is my birthday, and life with two is full steam ahead. We’ve already decorated our Christmas tree, and now we’re getting ready for lots of travel. But before things get too crazy, I did want to take a minute to document my sweet boy, because he is already two months old! He’s officially 9 and a half weeks. To sound like a broken record, these days are going by way too fast.
Here’s what’s going on with my little chunk.
DockATot Lounger // Milestone Cards
Colin at 2 Months:
- 12 pounds, 15 ounces
- 23.25 inches long
- Wearing size 0-3 months or 3 months, although clothes are getting pretty snug.
- 3-6 months clothes fit with room to grow.
- Nurses or takes a bottle about 7 times a day. Has equal amount of diapers.
- Naps for 45 minutes to 2 hours, mostly 45 minute naps lately. (It’s always a gamble. He hasn’t really nailed down a schedule.)
- Goes to bed around 11 p.m. and sleeps through the night. Holy miracle!
- Smiling a ton. It’s the cutest thing ever.
- Cooing and babbling so much, especially to his daddy. (I think they’re going to be best buds.)
- Hates being in his carseat when he’s awake and the car is not moving.
- Loves, loves, loves his swing, just like his sister did.
- Loves time on his play mat.
Life Lately with Two…
Now that Colin is sleeping pretty consistently, I feel like I’ve definitely gotten the hang of the things. Life is most certainly a whole lot busier, but I didn’t expect it not to be. We’re all adjusting pretty well, and we all pitch in to help each other, even Charlotte does her part.
My hubs is the best and does so much to help. He washes clothes, makes dinner, takes care of the house, and even cleans when he has to—all of that on top of working every day. My hands are usually full with a baby, and Charlotte is usually attached to my hip, so it’s been extremely nice to have a partner that goes above and beyond. He’s an unsung hero if you ask me, just like so many dads are.
When I do have downtime, I like to spend it resting or hanging out with my hubs, which is why blogging has been so hard lately. I really do miss blogging as much as I used to and being as engaged with it as I used to, but I do bits and pieces of that when I can. I know I’ll find a new rhythm for it soon, and I try to remember that this is just a season, a very short one at that.
We recently went on our first road trip as a family of four, and it was a great adventure. We visited our friends in San Antonio (about a 3 hour drive) and stayed in a hotel. Charlotte loved it, and Colin did great! He did catch his first cold when we got back home (something he probably picked up while we were visiting), but thankfully, it wasn’t anything serious.
We loved experiencing our first holiday together (Halloween), and we just love going out and about as a family.
Postpartum life…
I’ve lost 20 pounds of the 35 I gained. It doesn’t feel like I’ve lost much though. My non-maternity clothes are still a huge way off from fitting. Because of that, I’ve been wearing my maternity pants. You know…to NOT have to buy more clothes.
I know these last 15 pounds will most likely take a year to come off. Even though I see light jogs in my future, nursing always makes me hold on to my weight. The minute I stop nursing, the weight drops. Here’s to a long journey of getting back into my old jeans!
And in other news, my hair is starting to thin, and my skin is breaking out constantly. It’s also very dry and saggy. Great times! I think I have a solution to getting my skin back in shape though. Stay tuned!
However, breastfeeding has been going really well, so I can’t complain. It’s keeping my little man healthy and happy, and I most definitely wouldn’t want to change that.
It’s been so fun to watch my family transform into what it has. I can’t wait for the holidays this year the most. It’s truly the most wonderful time of the year!
Thanks so much for sticking around and reading, friend. It means the world to me. :)

Awww, how sweet! And he’s just so cute!
Plus, I totally know what you mean about that nursing weight stuff. I naturally gain 60lbs with both of our littles (born at just under 9lbs and just under 10lbs), but I always hold on to somewhere between 15 and 20lbs. Now that we’ve made it through the first year for the second time, I’m quite ready to start wearing other pants consistently again. Somewhere on the horizon, but not quite.
And, btw, you 4 are so cute together! :)
