Even when the bad days seem to linger, especially when you’re going through a big thing like I mentioned above, there is still joy to be had in each day. How can that be? Well, we were made to thrive. We were made to persevere. We were made in His image. Because of that, we gather up every ounce of our will to keep going with a positive attitude even when the times are tough.
Our circumstances aren’t always a choice, but our attitude is. Happiness is a choice. You might think that it’s just not that easy. You’re right. It’s not. It’s a constant effort to choose joy, especially in adversity. But the secret to getting over a bad day (or a bad season) is yourself. We choose how we react to situations. We choose how we overcome the little things and the big things that are thrown our way. When we choose to dwell on God instead of our problems, things start to turn around.
Here are some things that help me stay in that mindset.
1. BE BRAVE.
I have to have courage to take the next steps in scary situations. I have to have courage to believe that everything is going to work out the way it should. It takes bravery to believe, but brave is something I can be.
2. BE BOLD.
I have to be bold in everything I do, especially when things aren’t easy. When I feel anxious about a situation or frustrated, I have to ask myself, “Have I prayed about this as much as I should have?” And usually, the honest answer is no. I’m a big believer in prayer, and when my prayers are bold, so am I.
3. BE REFINED.
I have to know that each situation I go through, no matter how small, is refining me to be the person God intended me to be. Each obstacle and each triumph is helping shape my faith and beliefs. Like a diamond in the rough, you know.

love this! so beautifully stated!! I tend to forget the refining process. I am not usually a fan of it so I don’t pay much attention but it is oh so important!! I am so glad you and the princess are okay!

Thanks so much, my dear! I think we all forget. ;) And I am so glad it’s over with. Now I just have the red tape to get through and we’ll be a-ok. Xoxo

That accident sounds terrifying! Thankfully you & your family were safe. I love your perspective on overcoming bad situations. You’re right, we rarely pray about situations as much as we should. It’s all part of the refining process that deepens our faith, but it’s certainly not easy!
Kristy says
It was pretty scary. Thanks so much for your kind words. I find that when I’m in a really bad spot, I just need to shake up my perspective. It’s definitely not easy, but it’s always a process I’m grateful for afterward. :)

What a perfect post! It is so tough when bad days roll around, but your positive spin on a bad day is perfect and very well said.
Kristy says
Thanks so much, Amanda! Life is just tough sometimes, you know? But that doesn’t mean we have to live in unhappiness. Quite the contrary. I choose happiness. It’s hard sometimes, but always worth it. :)

Very well said. I often tell my children that only they can determine their attitude. It can be hard, but if we really want to we can pull ourselves out of a funk. Thanks for the encouragement.

Thanks for your kind words, Jennifer! It can be so hard, but like my mom always says, “you just gotta to do what you gotta do.” ;) Have a great week!

I’m so sorry to hear about your accident Kristy but am I ever relieved that you and Charlotte are okay.
You’re advice is perfect. I find God is the best remedy for a bad day. He can turn the bad to beautiful in the blink of an eye. The more glory and praise we give Him, the happier we become.
Thanks for sharing and for linking up to the #SHINEbloghop.

Nice advice. I look back on rough experiences and even though they were hard, I know that they have changed me for the better.
Some days I find tiny things irritating me, putting me in a bad mood. Those are the days where I know I just have to reshape my attitude.

Thank you, Alycia! It’s hard to sometimes own a situation and just deal with it. So hard. But when you just take the bulls by the horn as they say, things really start to turn around. ;) Hope you have a great week, my friend!

I am not very religious– more so spiritual? If that is a thing… I believe in the power of prayer and meditation. When I’m anxious, I take deep breaths, try to clear my mind and say some prayers. It definitely helps.
Kristy says
Absolutely makes tons of sense, Monica! :) Being in tune with yourself is key. Knowing how to calm your spirit is always a huge help. Hope you’re having a great week!

Good encouragement. So hopeful to remember that God is using every situation to refine us for His purposes. We definitely all have bad moments and even days, but you’re right – we don’t have to stay there.
Kristy says
Thanks, Abi! I truly believe that each moment is just a step to the next and a refining tool for sure. Hope you’re having a great day!
