This summer is halfway done, and while we haven’t taken many road trips, we are open to the idea for sure. We love traveling, and we definitely want to pass on our love for travel to our children, too. We have taken many road trips with Charlotte, and I can’t wait until we’re in a stage to be able to do the same with Colin.
Growing up, some of my fondest memories are of road trips taken with my grandparents. The night before a big day trip, my Popo would tell us we were headed on a great big adventure. For the car ride, he’d grab a map, my Momo would pack us some lunches and snacks, and off we’d go! We would play “eye spy” while we drove and ask “are we there yet” more than I can count. The places we’d go were always so much fun, and I’ll never forget all the fun places they took us here in Texas.
Now that I’m a parent, I’m the driver and organizer of the road trip, and I can’t wait to make those same type of memories with my kiddos. We all know that surviving a road trip with kids isn’t easy. There are so many things we have to think of: snacks, activities for the car, and questions to answer. But I’ve definitely found the best little snack for a road trip that won’t make a mess.
What to Pack for a Road Trip
Snacks: The Tree Top Apple Sauce pouches are the the perfect, packable, anywhere, anytime, no mess snack option for any and all road trips. They’re made with pure fruit and nothing artificial. The no spill squeeze pouches come in a variety of great tasting fruit flavors and different carton sizes (4-count or 12-count). Pack plenty for your road trip, because these are so good, you’ll want one for yourself, too.
Activities: Coloring books & books about the places you’re going with lots of fun pictures are great for long car rides. You can use this snack tray for your child to color on in the car, too.
Water Bottles: You know your child will ask you for something to drink.
Change of Clothes: Because accidents happen.
Camera: You’ll want to document your road trip once you arrive to your destination, so make sure you pack your phone, your big camera if you have one, and chargers.
