It’s beginning to look a lot like summer! With the temperatures starting to heat up immensely, we are always looking for indoor activities. So movies and an activity or two to go with it will be happening quite often. The first movie on our list to kick off summer is a good one! How To Train Your Dragon 3: I was so excited to watch it with the kids.
HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 3
As the third and final movie in the How to Train Your Dragon series, it was such a great ending! Without giving away too much, one of my favorite things in How to Train Your Dragon 3 is the new female dragon, Light Fury, and the theme of learning how to fly on your own (even though it made me cry).
Charlotte loved Light Fury and Colin loved watching all of the dragons fly. How to Train Your Dragon 3 was visually stunning, had great music, made the kids laugh and made me cry. I’m calling that a win.
We cuddled up under their new blanket, watched with some popcorn, and then played with their new How To Train Your Dragon 3 toys. For this movie, I wanted to pair it with some tactile fun. What’s more fun than making dragon poop and dragon slime? Charlotte and Colin LOVED this. It was so easy to do, and it ended up being hours of playtime for them.
HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 3 ACTIVITIES
DIY PLAYDOUGH
Here’s what you need for super easy, no cook DIY playdough.
INGREDIENTS
dry ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/4 cup salt
- 1 tbsp cream of tartar
wet ingredients
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 3/4 cup boiling water
DIRECTIONS
- Add all dry ingredients together in a mixing bowl. Combine well.
- Then add in the coconut oil and vegetable oil. I also added in a few drops of my favorite essential oil to add in some good vibes. Stir in well. Have your kids help like I did.
- Next, add in the boiling water. Stir until combined, then dump out the mixture onto a rolling surface and knead away!
- You can then add in food coloring or color with a marker (a trick I learned from my friend Jacquie @sweetersidemom). We added a few drops of green to make it into dragon poop. Charlotte’s best guess of what color dragon poop would be. ;) Knead in the food coloring until really blended in. That was my favorite part.
- Play with the playdough immediately or store in an airtight container.
Pin it for later!
DIY SLIME
For the slime, I just bought a DIY kit because I’m fancy like that. It came with sparkle glue and a slime solution. Two ingredients makes my day for things like this.
DIRECTIONS
Empty the glue out into a bowl. Add 2 tablespoons at a time of the mixing solution into the glue. Stir well. You’re done when 6 tablespoons have been used. Knead until it’s not too sticky.
Warning: do not get on clothes or furniture. I lived to tell that tale.
