This weekend my family and friends spoiled me with a very special sprinkle shower for my baby boy. Since this party was done on a smaller scale, all the details were kept simple and elegant. I loved how it turned out, and it really would make for a beautiful color scheme for any gender neutral shower.
When my family asked me what I wanted it to look like, I told them I wanted the colors to be gray, white, and touches of gold, all the colors of our nursery.
Here are some details from the day.
The Decorations
My friend Lisha owns The Sign Chick, a special occasion yard sign rental company here in Cypress/Houston, so she put up this adorable stork in our yard to let guests know exactly where to be. Charlotte fell in love with it!
Another friend of mine, Lisa, recently opened up a stationery shop on Etsy called RedBric Design. I asked her if she could whip up some invitations really quickly, and she certainly did deliver! I wanted just a touch of animal whimsy, but nothing cartoonish, told her our color scheme, and she came up with these. She can custom design any invitation or print you have in mind.
The cake was made by my dear friend Traci, and it was absolutely delicious! Lemon cake with vanilla frosting is the best, especially in the summer. She makes the most beautiful and amazing cakes! If you’re local, you should definitely look her up as she’s turning her baking hobby into a business. All of her ingredients are nut allergy safe, too.
The party favors were the decorative cookies and were also too good to eat just one. They were placed in a basket and had a little chalkboard sign saying, “Thanks for being so sweet.”
I wish I could have gotten pictures of the food, but we ran out of time. On the menu was pulled pork sliders on Hawaiian rolls, fruit & dip, cheese dip & chips, carrots and hummus, and raspberry lemonade and sweet tea. We also had champagne for all my fabulous (non-pregnant) ladies, and everything was pretty much gone once the party was over. I just love party food and drinks!
