Well, hello! I have been meaning to get this post up since Monday night, but you know. Life. I really miss blogging consistently, but this year has been one for the books!
So, last Thursday I went running and took Charlotte with me around our lakes in the neighborhood. Since it’s still in the high 80s in the lovely South, all the bugs are still out and about, and a darn gnat flew into my eye. Random. Well, it hurt like heck. Thus commencing a week long saga of ailments and having to wear my glasses.
Friday, we went to Chick-fil-A, and my peeps were in rare form. Colin is just too cute in these, it’s like he was really posing for the selfies. And Charlotte, well, she was just being her normal three-year-old self.
I love it.
Saturday, we headed to two festivals, one at our church and one in our neighborhood. But first, we started off our weekend with pumpkin pancakes!
I seriously have the best breakfast maker as my husband.
Charlotte was super excited to then wear her costume. I’m so glad she wanted to be a princess this year, because that was definitely money well spent (we bought it in the Target princess aisle). She has so many princess dresses, but I think the Elena of Avalor dress takes the cake. Way to go Disney for making a Spanish princess!

After the church festival, we went home for a quick break then headed back out to our neighborhood festival. Little Miss did not want to leave.
Note that there was a pumpkin patch here, and I really wanted to get some pictures since our last pumpkin patch excursion ended with a throw-up session. But no. Char wanted nothing to do with pictures, she just wanted to slide. And for me to go with her. So I did.
We then headed to dinner and called it an early night.
Sunday, we went to brunch, and I finally seized my opportunity to get a family photo in front of the pumpkins! Who cares if it really wasn’t a pumpkin patch. I’ll forever treasure these photos, and I’m so thankful to the nice woman passing by asking if she wanted our picture taken as a family of four.
And yes, Charlotte and I were matching. Our kimonos are from last year, I think. The shop is called Haberdash Soul Co..
My poor Colin had woken up with a swollen, crusted eye, and I thought he had pink eye. Thankfully, I took him to the doctor early Halloween morning, and he has a clogged tear duct. We’re now managing it and hoping it goes away soon. He was festive for his first Halloween though.
Halloween night, we welcomed our first trick-or-treaters (our sweet friends), and then we got ready to go trick-or-treating ourselves.
But first, a photo shoot, right after Charlotte had swiped plenty of candy from our bowl.
Before we headed out around the neighborhood, we visited with our neighbors, who also happen to be like family to us. Charlotte wanted to help pass out candy with them first, so we did. But people. Just look at my sly one in this video.
She was trying to be a candy swiper! Silly girl. After she got caught and we had our laughs, she became way more excited to then pass out candy to others, her neighbors (who she’s learned all about through Daniel Tiger). She wanted to give away two handfuls each time, but we had to teach her how to ration it.
We then went around the block, and she loved saying, “Trick or Treat!” I just had to be on the porch with her, of course. After we left each door, she would say, “Okay, next house!” I think she loves Halloween. These are definitely the sweet years.
Hope you had a great Halloween and weekend (and week)! Talk to you soon, friend!

Charlotte’s face in the second princess picture is priceless. I feel like she has so much personality!

Your pumpkin family picture turned out so great! I always, always stop to offer to snap a family picture. As the mom and designated photographer I totally know what it’s like to never be in any of the pictures.

It did! :) And that is so sweet of you. I usually do when go to The Nutcracker every year. ;) Hope you’ve been having a great month so far!
