Something that I found extremely important during pregnancy was the investment of a good bra. I did not like anything frilly or uncomfortable when I was pregnant, so these VS cotton bras were my favorite. They are so comfortable and full of stretch. You’ll appreciate the comfort factor more than you know. And you’ll need a good over-the-shoulder-boulder-holder to keep your ever-growing ladies in place.
5. Gap Chambray Tunic
Right now, chambray is all the rage and such a classic piece. This is a great maternity option for the pregnant fashionista. Pair with skinny jeans or tights and you’ve got yourself a pulled-together look. I had a similar shirt that I absolutely loved and wore quite a bit. This should also work post-partum as a tunic as well.
This maxi skirt from Target isn’t found in the maternity section. This is an added bonus because it will get use well after your little bundle of joy arrives. I loved the comfort of this skirt and paired it with tanks, cardigans, long necklaces, and fitted maternity tees. It’s the perfect maxi for the pregnant mama.
Two other great options that are classic and versatile are from Gap Maternity and Motherhood. Both are 3/4 sleeve scoop neck tees and can be dressed up or down. A short sleeve option can be found here at Target.
The Secret Fit Belly is a design trademarked by Motherhood, and when I bought my first pair, I thought I was in heaven. I wore a similar pair to work at least once a week. These go with everything. You can fold the full belly panel down when you’re still in the first trimester, but you’ll appreciate the full belly coverage when you’re large and in charge during the second and third trimester.
These leggings fit and conform underneath your belly. You’ll find that most of your tops will be long and tunic-like, pairing well with these ever-stylish leggings. How lucky are we that they are still in style. Gap again does not disappoint with these super soft and incredibly comfortable leggings.
When I was teaching while pregnant, we were able to wear jeans on Friday with a school spirit shirt. These jeans most definitely were worn almost every Friday. They fit the entire pregnancy and stayed comfortable the whole time. The dark wash is a little dressier to add that extra polish. Definitely a great investment.
One thing about building a pregnancy wardrobe is to buy classic pieces that will pair well with other pieces. Buy one thing at a time and take advantage of the sales. I joined several sites’ email lists to be sure I wouldn’t miss out.
Happy pregnancy, mamas! May you be happy and healthy always, looking just as beautiful as ever.
