It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Really! But before I get started with all things holiday here on the bloggity blog, I have to wrap up October and share Charlotte’s first trick-or-treating extravaganza. As a twenty-month-old, I’d say she nailed it.
The night started off with a spur-of-the-moment trip to our neighborhood’s fabulous Halloween carnival. We hadn’t planned on going, but while we were waiting for the sun to go down, we figured we would go check out the festivities. I’m so glad we did. Walking up to the party, she was a little hesitant.
But once she saw a slide and a train, things started looking up.
The little train going around the park was too much fun. I recorded our ride, but it was a bit bumpy so I’ll spare you from motion sickness. Here are a couple of pictures instead.
The carnival was full of ghouls and goblins galore. There were tons of activities for the kiddos: the little train, four different bounce houses and slides, a rock climbing wall, an obstacle course, a DJ playing, and tons of free food and sno-cones. Charlotte wasn’t able to participate in most of that, although she did love the music; we called it a day pretty quickly and headed back home to begin trick-or-treating.
Up first was our neighbor’s house. Charlotte was too cute walking up to see Miss S.
Charlie Bear was all about the candy. She was quick to understand that the candy goes into her pumpkin. Miss S was so nice and told her to take it all, and Charlotte would have cleaned her out had I not stopped her. It was hilarious! She is such a good little helper these days and understands the concept of putting things away. She literally thought she was cleaning up the big bucket of candy and putting it away into her pumpkin. Simple. Duh, mom.
I did record her taking all of the candy. She is a hoot and a half. Excuse my high pitched mom voice.
Then off we went to make a lap around the block. She was a champ walking around well past her bedtime. She was pointing at houses saying, “house,” walking up to each door step, smiling at every neighbor that greeted her. You think she has the charm down? Definitely.
Once we got back to our house, she was so excited about what was in her pumpkin.
Her daddy thought it was a fabulous idea to give her a lollipop. Her first of many, I’m sure. She loved it. We then passed out candy, and Charlotte helped me for a little while until it was time for her to go to bed. It was such a fun night.
The rest of the weekend was spent relaxing, shopping, and spending time with friends. Saturday morning, I woke up with an allergy headache and needed a nap after breakfast. My amazing hubs took Charlotte shopping and let me sleep. He came back with a new pair of shoes for her and a new slide. She loves both! Not a daddy’s girl at all. Sunday, we enjoyed brunch at one of my favorite spots, and the weather was gorgeous! Charlotte loved looking at the water fountains and running around in her new UGG boots.
The weekend ended with her playing on this slide, and the party hasn’t stopped since. This little girl is all about ALL the toys. This slide is clearly her jam.
I loved this weekend. I think I love every holiday a little bit more now, because Charlotte makes everything better. I cherish these days and the memories that each one brings.
I had so much fun looking at all the Halloween pictures on Instagram and Facebook of all the littles dressed up as cute as could be. I hope you all had a fabulous weekend and are having a wonderful week so far. I’ll be packing today to get ready for my girl’s trip to Napa! Happy November, my peeps!

What an absolutely adorable Halloween! Love the neighborhood carnival – how fun, and the train ride…always a hit! Aria was definitely fine taking all the candy people would offer her too.
