At the beginning of January 2020, Michael and I began thinking about our 10-year anniversary. We thought of our favorite places to visit, and we came up with NYC. We are major foodies, and it was once our favorite city in the world. But then 2020 happened, and the world went bonkers.
Around June, we heartbrokenly canceled our New York trip. When thinking of alternates, we knew we wanted to travel somewhere with wide-open spaces, beautiful scenery, and good restaurants. We came up with Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It checked all the boxes, and we were so happy to explore it! Here’s a recap of our time spent there.
Day 1 in Jackson Hole
Tuesday: We left Houston mid-day and had a layover in Salt Lake City. Their airport is the best. So clean! We stopped in the Delta lounge for some snacks and drinks. Those lounges are the best when you have a long layover and so worth it.
When we arrived to Jackson Hole early that evening, it was pitch black. From the airport to our hotel, it was an easy, slow drive but hard to see. For our anniversary we decided on the Four Seasons, and it was absolutely perfect. They even had little treats for us waiting in our room.
Our first night in, we ate at Westbank Grill in the hotel for an easy, late-night dinner. It was amazing! I highly recommend ordering local foods from here. You can’t go wrong.
Day 2 in Jackson Hole
Wednesday: Ate breakfast at hotel restaurant. Drove out to TA Mouton area.
Walked around Teton Village. Walked around and had drinks and apps at Bin 22. Highly recommend! Ate at Local for dinner. Loved the vibe here. Went to hotel bar and had the Cowboy Cookie and a cappuccino.
Day 3 in Jackson Hole
Thursday: We ate breakfast at the hotel restaurant every morning, and it was so good. Never got tired of it. On Day 3, we drove to Jenny Lake via the scenic route through the state park, and it was the most beautiful drive up to the most beautiful lake. We entered into the main entrance this day.
It actually snowed as soon as we got there. So cold, but so worth it.
After our excursion to Jenny Lake, we lounged around and ate Thai for lunch. We truly had zero plans with this trip which is unusual for us, but it was honestly the best, most relaxing vacation ever.
That night, we went back to Jackson, walked around, and had dinner at Pinky G’s Pizzeria.
We loved walking around the town, and the pizza at Pinky G’s was awesome.
Day 4 in Jackson Hole
Friday: It was another breakfast at the hotel restaurant. Then we drove out to Jenny Lake again, but this time we took a more scenic route. Because we did that, we saw a BEAR out in the wild and we saw moose too. So exciting to see.
After driving around, we went back to hotel and spent time in sauna. Definitely should have done that every day. In the evening, we went to hotel bar for drinks; I do not recommend their seafood.
Our last night and our anniversary day, we celebrated at Westbank Grill. We loved this restaurant, especially since it was in the hotel. We passed out afterward. Lol.
Day 5 in Jackson Hole
Saturday: We rounded out our trip with one last breakfast at the hotel restaurant. A couples massage at the hotel spa was our last adventure, too. We drove back to the airport for our flight out.
Overall, this trip was so amazingly special. This year has been a doozy, and this vacation was more appreciated than ever, especially for such a milestone in our marriage: 10 years!
