It’s been one month with my baby boy, and this little dude has our hearts. Today he’s officially one month and four days, and I’m only late in posting this because he’s been experiencing a little reflux as of late, which means I’ve been getting very little sleep and very little time to do anything other than be a mommy. However, he makes life with two so sweet.

Ever since we brought him home from the hospital, he’s really been a dream baby, until he stopped sleeping long stretches through the night. That’s when I knew the honeymoon was over. But that’s all to be expected with a newborn, don’t you think? I’ve been taking the sleepless nights with a grain of salt, but pray every every night to get more than a three hour stretch.
My sweet Colin really is my chill baby though. He gets more precious by the day, and he is well loved by all his people, especially his big sister.
One Month Stats
- 10 pounds, 4 ounces
- 22 inches
- Eats 7 to 9 times a day (and more when he’s going through a growth spurt)
- On a loose Baby Wise schedule
- Longest stretch of sleep at night: 9 hours (Dont’ worry. It’s only happened once, but I did think he was a real unicorn of a newborn for a hot second.)
- Shortest stretch of sleep at night: 2 hours (And I cried the next day from exhaustion.)
- Wearing Newborn size clothing, because I’m making them fit a little longer.
- Wearing Size 1 diapers
- Sleeps in our room at night
- Loves the Mamaroo and Swing
- Breastfed, but sometimes bottlefed and sometimes supplemented with formula
- A real sweetie pie with the squishiest cheeks
This Past Month…
It’s definitely true what they say about second babies: they are so go-with-the-flow. They have no choice. He’s the best little buddy to me while Charlotte is at school, and he’s still in the phase of sleeping a lot through the day, allowing us to get things done and run errands when needed. We do love being homebodies, but getting out of the house is great for everyone. Being stuck inside, all day, every day, could make anyone go crazy, and “ain’t nobody got time for that.”
The first couple of weeks, we were completely spoiled with having help surrounding us. My mom, hubs, and sister took time off and stayed with us, and it was so nice to have an extra set of hands around the house during the day. I also was spoiled by my friends who brought us meals. My mother-in-law also came for a weekend and cooked for us, which was a nice treat.
My sweet little bub had his newborn pictures done, and I cannot wait to see them! I saw two previews, and I am so excited about what’s to come. He’s already changed so much since he took them at one week old.
We’ve loved going out to lunch or dinner at our favorite kid-friendly restaurants, and we even ventured out to the Pumpkin Patch. Believe it or not, I did not get any pictures of him at the patch. Mom fail for sure.
Next up on the agenda, CHURCH!
Reflux
This month, Colin had his first doctor’s appointment that wasn’t a well-check. He had shown symptoms of reflux since he was born, so it’s something I’ve been watching since then. This past weekend, he wasn’t sleeping more than 3 hours at a time every single day, and that really wasn’t like him. He at least was sleeping four hours at a time at night.
Tuesday I took him in, and my thoughts were right. I have another reflux baby on my hands. His symptoms go more in line with silent reflux, and the sounds he makes sometimes are awful. I could tell he had been in so much discomfort, and I’m glad he got checked out by his doctor. He’s on Zantac now, but it’s been a battle to get him to take it. Thankfully, he keeps it down if I mix it with a little bit of breast milk or formula and give it to him from a bottle. I’m hoping the meds kick in soon!
I cannot wait to see my sweet Colin continue to grow and change. He’s the sweetest. Now let’s keep hoping for long stretches of sleep!
