I’m on Houston Moms Blog today with this post. It’s something really near and dear to my heart, and I certainly hope it comes off the right way, with love for all my mommy friends. Here’s an excerpt…
“Awhile back, there was this article circulating the interwebs titled, “Dear Stay-at-Home Mom, Shut The Blank Up.” I think it was an even harsher title, originally. The thing is, months later, I’m still annoyed with it. The author basically said to shut your pie hole if you’re a stay-at-home mom because you should be thankful for such a gift, and if you want to complain so much about it, then get a job. “Just be content or quit your whining.” But you know what? No one tells me or my people to shut up. The worst part about it is she was/is a stay-at-home mom too. I just don’t get it. People on the internet can be so rude sometimes whether they mean to be or not {they really should learn how to mind their manners}. I think the author was trying to be nice about it, but no. Just no. Can we please be polite when trying to get a point across?”
You can read the rest of the article HERE. See you there, sister.
Throw a little love around today. The world needs it. I’ll be back with a less heavy topic Wednesday. Don’t forget about the Star Spangled Kids linkup on Wednesday, too. You can find those details here.
Let’s keep in touch, shall we?

Great job, girlfriend! I think it’s important that moms feel valued in whatever they decide to do. There is value in working and there is value in staying home. And in both situations, we have the right to be exhausted on bad days and feel blessed on good ones. I will say that it really hurts to hear moms complaining during the day after I have seen my kids for a total of maybe 10 minutes, but I try to keep this into perspective as best as I can. Some days it’s harder than others.

Thanks so much, Meg!!! It is so true that the bottom line is that we just want to feel valued. At least that’s how I see it, so it’s nice to hear it coming from other moms, too. I don’t mean to justify whining just to whine. In that sense, no, don’t whine every 5 seconds, because ain’t nobody got time for that. But a little compassion goes a long way. I am this close to having to go back to work (maybe), and I just know it would kill me to hear SAHMs complain, but on the other side of it, I would take it with a grain of salt. ;) Love you, sister!

So well said. I love this. All the props to the SAHMs. And the working moms. And the work from home moms. And the dads. And anyone raising tiny humans to be good people while still trying to maintain some sort of semblance of their former lives. It’s ALL hard. We all have the right to complain when necessary. We just all have to remember that no matter what our situation, we all are lucky to have what we have – healthy beautiful children that we love and want to spend time with. We should just be supportive and kind and tell each other that we’re all doing a good job. :)
Kristy says
Ain’t that the truth, Sara! It IS all hard. And yes to gratitude and to celebrating each other. Wouldn’t it be nice to just sit around and sing kumbaya? We could leave the drama to the Real Housewives. ;)

You are awesome! I love this. I’m not a mom yet, but I’ve been a nanny for years. I can’t even imagine having the kids allllll day and night, plus trying to manage a house, run errands, maintain relationships… It’s definitely a full-time job and I’m glad you are standing up against this article!
Kristy says
Thanks so much, Jenna! It’s a hard place to be sometimes, but just like everyone else no matter where they’re at, I’m doing the best I can. I hate to get on my soap box from an article, but I think it was just the icing on the cake of feeling like we’re the outcasts in society lately. But I feel better now. Lol. Happy weekend!
