Lately, I’ve been feeling like a complete failure at my job. You know, the one job that encompasses ALL the things: motherhood. It got me thinking about all that this job entails and just how hard it is. Motherhood is like trying to juggle three spinning saucers topped with five-foot cakes all while walking a tight rope, with lipstick on. Don’t get me wrong. It’s wonderful and full rainbows, but then it’s not.
Just yesterday, I was texting one of my best friends about how fun it is wiping oozing eye snot all day from the attack of the pink eye. Then there’s the teething drool, dirty diapers, stomach bugs, and runny noses. Mom life is so glamorous.

But you know what? I would do it all day, every day because I love my kids. No one ever said this was going to be easy. Like most things in life, it takes hard work.
Motherhood is full of selflessness, but the return is so much greater than any of the bad.
Yes, this job is not for the faint of heart, but there really is only ONE thing that is required of us: TO LOVE OUR CHILDREN. The rest is just the small stuff.
We could sit and whine about all the hard things all day, or we could roll up our sleeves and get it done. I’m pretty sure we’re a mixture of both. When you’re having a bad day, let it out. Stomp three times and make yourself feel better. (Daniel Tiger is a genius for that.)
Moms are some of the strongest people I know. Why? Because we have to be.
Love yourself then love your people! Continue to grow in your faith and teach your littles what you know. You don’t have to know it all or do it all, you just have to do all that you do with LOVE.
On the days when things are hard, I like to remember that I’m not alone. There are so many mothers before me that have worked their patooties off to make this world a better place. Mother Theresa said it best, “If you want to change the world, go home and love your family.”
And I bet that’s exactly what you’re doing. You’re changing the world, friend. One day at a time.
We got this!
