Hi, pretty friends! So much has happened since we last chatted. Anyone else riding the May struggle bus? With end of year event almost every day, it’s no wonder everyone is wiped out around here. I’m usually one to not wish summer upon us, but I think we’re all ready for a break. Even in May, we’re still trying to find a routine that works for us, and I think the only “routine” we have is to change things up daily. Yikes! It’s only a season, right?
Now back to fashion! We are on Day 15 of the May Mom Style Challenge, people! Have you found any style inspiration from the style prompts, thus far? I do hope so! I know I have dug deep into my closet to revamp some pieces, and I’m happy to report that I’ve gotten fully dressed every day this month, making it the most productive month I’ve had in a long time. Maybe that’s why I’m tired.
Here’s what we’ve got so far, sister! (I recapped Day 1-4 in my last post, but I’ll add them here, too, for a full report of our halfway mark.)
#MayMomStyle Challenge, Part 1
Day 1 :: Denim Love
Easy, breezy in a denim shirt dress. And y’all. I can’t even with my legs. They’re the color of the sand.
Day 2 :: Midi Skirt & Tee
I was definitely channeling Little House on the Prairie with this one, and this is the only picture I got from the day. You can’t win ’em all.
Day 3 :: Bring on the Basic
This combo is my favorite. If you don’t have this blouse from Nordstrom, you’re missing out. It’s the most versatile blouse in all the land, and it’s a champ through all seasons. It comes in all the colors, is under 30 bucks, and it’s free shipping, too! Go add it to your cart!
Day 4 :: Extra & Ruffles
This was a good one, y’all. Love these shorts. Love this top. The end. The tassel earrings made it pop. (All of these things have been in my closet forever.)
Day 5 :: Derby Day
You know how much I love Julia, Gal Meets Glam creator, right? She is my fashion spirit animal, except not in my real life. Thankfully, she created a line of dresses that are the most beautiful dresses I’ve ever seen! This is one from her collection. It sold out so quickly, but you can shop the rest of her collection here. So perfect for any occasion.
Day 6 :: Florals on Display
Another oldy from the closet. I wore this top the day I got engaged nine years ago, and it’s still kicking. Florals never ever get old.
Day 7 :: Gingham Lover
I actually wore this last year for the challenge, and this is a photo from last year. I wore this dress again, but I changed the shoes and accessories. So versatile! You can never really go wrong with gingham, right?
Day 8 :: White Denim
These toothpick jeans from J.Crew have long been a favorite in my closet. A lot of people talk about the perfect white jean, and these are it. They aren’t super stretchy or thin or see through. Jusssst right!
Day 9 :: Neutrals
Can’t get much more neutral than this, am I right? This Anthropologie blouse is from many moons ago. Don’t you love how clothes can really tell the story of your life. I wore this shirt on a day I’ll never forget; I was in Barcelona, and it was the day I found out my parents were getting a divorce. That was July of 2011. Yet here we are, and I’m still wearing this pretty thing. The skirt and accessories are all new. ;)
Day 10 :: Camo Glam
Rhinestones, glow serum, and camo, oh my! So good. So easy to put together. And you look flawless all the while.
Day 11 :: Jumpsuit (my favorite outfit so far, because I could wear this every day)
This sold out jumpsuit from Target was definitely worth the hype. I talked a little bit about how you need a jumpsuit on an Instagram post recently, but I think this needs a full blog post. They’re that good.
Day 12 :: Color Me Happy
Color makes me so happy. The older I get, the more I gravitate toward neutrals, but colors are my jam. Bet you couldn’t tell from website design at all. We call that an aesthetic and “on brand” in the blog land. ;)
Day 13 :: Sequins or Sparkle (this dress shimmered, so that’s the best I could do.)
When I was looking up 2018 trends for spring and summer, sequins and sparkle were all the rage. I used to own sequins a long time ago, but that was before kids. Now slight shimmer fabric will have to do. This dress is an old faithful in my closet, too. It was perfect for Mother’s Day!
Day 14 :: Overall Fancy
I’ve loved overalls since middle school. Thank God they’re back in style. These are from Old Navy and out of stock, but when you find a good pair, get them! You won’t regret it. Cannot wait to get some white short overalls soon! I mean, look how fun they can be?!
Day 15 :: Stripes on Stripes (wore this same dress last year for the challenge!)
And last but not least: Stripes! I’m wearing this same exact outfit from last year today. See how I like to wear timeless pieces? Invest in classics and you’ll have a full closet for ages.
I hope you all have found some inspiration to get out of your style rut and into some fun clothes! This has truly been fun for me to do each day. I love seeing your looks, too! Don’t forget to use the hashtag!
Now back to watching all things royal as we await the royal wedding this weekend! I need the distraction from Charlotte’s Pre-K graduation tomorrow. How are we here?!
Talk soon, loves!
Xoxo,
Kristy
