Do you ever scroll through Instagram and wonder how beautiful some people’s lives look? I do it all the time. But because I’ve entered this blogging world, I’ve quickly realized that there is a story behind every picture. There’s a method to posting to make a pretty Instagram account, and when blogging is your business, sharing top-quality images is a job. All that means is that I don’t get to share every single picture I want. I don’t get to share every story of our daily life. I could, but I’m afraid that would be overkill. However, today I just want pause and share some pictures of our week, some that made Insta’ and some that did not. Pictures are my favorite. Here’s a peek into what our week has looked like, beyond just the few pictures I’ve posted on Instagram.
Let’s start with the beginning of this past weekend, Friday.
When the hubs is off on Fridays, our weekend begins with breakfast and usually a day out somewhere. This day was a bit on the chilly side, so we stayed indoors most of the day.
Charlotte and I watched Frozen for the five thousandth time, and her daddy took a nap. Later that day we had cheese pizza for dinner. After dinner, little miss wanted to play in her awesome pink princess tent. Then we had a late night luau in her room way past her bedtime. She was having a hard time adjusting to the time change. A week and a half later, I think we are finally getting back into our regular schedule of going to bed at 8 and waking up at 8. This night it was almost 9 by the time I had put her to bed.
Saturday
This day has got to go down as one of my favorites of the week. I think it had something to do with the pigtails, romper, and utility jacket. I die. My sister bought the outfit for her and specifically told me she needed to pair these pieces together. I think my sister needs to be a mini-fashion stylist.
It was a gorgeous day on Saturday, and we soaked up every ounce of sun that we could get. I love when the sky is blue, the grass is green, the sun is bright, and the hearts are full.
We ventured into town after Charlotte’s mini-photo shoot in the driveway, and we met up with my mom and aunts who were in town for a concert. We went to lunch at one of our favorite restaurants, Houston’s, and loved every minute. We even took some pictures after our lunch.
On our way home, Charlotte was beat. It was edging nap time, so this is how the little lady sits when she’s tired. Her eyes kill me.
Once we got home and she took a nap, we took her to the park. Again, we were enjoying the beautiful day to the fullest because we had seen enough gloom the week leading up to the weekend (now we’re back to rain. Yay.). She loves the playground on our trail, so we always stop during our walk to let her play.
Once it was time to go home, she wanted nothing to do with her stroller. She wanted to run the whole way home. She fell three times. I don’t know if it has anything to do with her hip, but my girl is a clumsy one. Regardless, watching her run fills my heart with so much joy.
Sunday
Sundays are usually pretty low-key. The day is spent making breakfast, going out to dinner or cooking, then grocery shopping. I’ve been pretty spoiled lately and the hubs has been going grocery shopping for us. He knows what it’s like to go grocery shopping with this sweet kid. She’s a toddler after all. We’ve had this discussion on repeat around here. He was feeling under the weather that day, so Charlotte and I took it upon ourselves to get things done. She cried only 2/3 of our grocery shopping extravaganza.
This little horsey sitting next to her kept her happy for about 10 minutes, then she wanted a “gogurt.” Of course I didn’t have one on hand, but good thing the store did! I open one every time. She likes to throw the remains on the conveyor belt to make sure we pay for what she ate. Silly rascal. We did however leave horsey behind. I made her tell him “bye-bye,” and she cried for a hot minute until she realized there was candy to look out at the check-out line. She was distracted yet again by the grocery store’s free stickers. God love stickers.
I can’t forget to mention and give some love to our first baby, our Bichon/Poodle Chapman, or Chaperoni, or Roni as Charlotte calls him. I took this picture of him on Sunday, and although he drives crazy sometimes, he really is sweet.
Monday
We started the week off right with Chick-fil-A’s chocolate milk and iced coffee. The morning looked something like this.
I put her hair back in this little bun, and I think it’s my second favorite hairstyle of hers after pig tails. Why is she wearing just a diaper you ask? Because that chocolate milk in that little carton was quickly spilled all over her lap. She did that. “Uh-Oh!” She’s been saying that phrase since she turned one.
Monday we pretty much stayed in our PJ’s all day, but for dinner we switched things up a bit and let her sit in her booster seat. She loves it. Makes me cry just a little bit. And those branches behind her in the first picture were from her Frozen party. I’m pretty sure I just put all of the decorations away last week. It’s been a month. This is how I roll. Procrastination station. It does not drive my husband crazy in the least. I lie. It does. But let’s marvel at those cheeks. She is a chipmunk if I’d ever seen one. We were eating chicken bog, a family favorite for sure.
Tuesday
Happy Saint Patrick’s Day it was! I dressed her in her only green t-shirt and was thankful it still fit. It’s a size smaller than what she’s currently fitting into right now, but I have a skinny mini on my hands, so it all worked out. While I was still getting dressed for the day, she was reading her books. She loves this book. I’ll link it in my Friday post tomorrow.
We had a couple of errands to run, and one of them was that I had to go shopping for a dress for the Tidbits event I had to go to. Shopping with a toddler. My how things have changed. But first, we had to take a selfie. With Olaf.
These next three pictures are what I like to call the fitting room diaries. (I went with the dress on the right, because sleeves.)
And of course she had the worst diaper incident in the dressing room. Of course. Because keeping me humble is what she is all about. She even plopped herself down onto the ground as if to say, “Change me, lady.” Sorry for the stench, J.Crew. Clearly I don’t have issues with public floors and my child laying herself on them. But if I did, I might have had a heart attack. Good thing I’m a “it’s good for her immune system” kind of mom.
While were checking out, she found these purses. I thought it was the cutest thing to see her wear them like a necklace. Oh, to be little again. I’m so glad I get to see life through her innocent eyes. However, the glitter on that little purse. It’s glitter. We know how glitter works. Before I realized that the glitter shed from said purse, I bought it for her. I’m a sucker. I know. But she was crying, and I was ready to get out of there. You would have done the same thing, I’m sure.
Later that day, around dinner time, we had spaghetti. This was Charlotte wearing the spaghetti. And thinking about her food.
Wednesday
Wednesdays are our busy days. We have Kindermusik class, then we lunch and playdate with Meg and Olivia. After our playdate, Charlotte was still not tired, so I let her run around some more to burn more energy. Before we walked out the door to play, she grabbed this baby doll, her purse (left on the driveway), and her little phone that goes in her purse. Clearly you can see what is most important to her. I don’t know where she gets it from. I don’t.
After nap time, it was Daddy to the rescue. I made it to the Tidbits Houston It Girl of Instagram event to support Megan, and I had a great time out. Going into the city always tugs at my heart a little. I miss living in Houston proper, but I wouldn’t trade what I’ve got going on for anything.
It was a great turnout and a great event. The girls nominated along with Megan all did a phenomenal job with the fashion show. And I got to meet and mingle with some awesome Houston fashion bloggers. Fun times.
That was a lot of pictures and a lot of words. Could you imagine if I would have shared all of that Instagram this week? For the love. I mean, seriously, if you just made it through all of that, bless you! But that was my week, minus the house work, wife work, mom work, and blog work. Tired yet?
For those of you who are wanting to prettify your Instagram accounts, next week I’ll be sharing my favorite apps I use to make my pictures just right. There’s a real science into growing your Instagram, and thanks to Hilary Rushford’s class Intagram with Intention, I’ve found my favorite apps and “recipes.” For instance, in all of these pictures, for this post’s purposes, I used PicTapGo’s “Air” filter. Consistency. It matters. ;)
P.S. If you’re interested in knowing what some bloggers go through to get the “just-right” picture, check out my friend Tawnya’s post, Instagram vs. Real Life. I’m telling you, there is a method to our madness, and it’s usually pretty funny.

Isn’t that crazy? She’s been doing it ever since she kicked the pacifier at 5 months old. It is sweet, but I’m pretty sure it’s shifted her teeth already. Orthodontics will be in our future, I’m sure. :/ So glad to have found you too, Whitney! :) Hope you’ve had a good week!
