Happy November! How in the world it’s already November, I’ll never know. There are so many things coming up this month like The Nutcracker Market, my birthday, Thanksgiving, and our big Napa trip this week. Our plate is quite full. But before I get ahead of myself, let’s recap our Halloween.
Friday was probably a full moon. I don’t really remember. But what I do remember is that Charlotte was acting super fussy, pulling at her ears, and then before I put her down for her nap, she was running a fever. I called the pediatrician’s offices as fast as I could, and of course they were all booked up on a Friday afternoon. Thankfully, a nurse called me back and squeezed us in. MJM met us at the doctor’s office, and Little Miss had a full blown ear infection. I knew it! We definitely started our weekend with a bang. An antibiotic later, we were good to go to enjoy the Halloween weekend. That night we carved pumpkins (Charlotte and her daddy did most of the work), and this was what we came up with.
Saturday, Halloween day, we put Charlotte in her monkey costume and headed to our church for the All Saint’s Day festival. When I put on her outfit, it fit pretty snuggly, and it was a little too short. When we bought this outfit a month ago, she fit into it perfectly. Just goes to show that she is growing like a weed. At least she did in the month of October.
As soon as we got to the festival, I saw this sign. I never knew the origin of the word Halloween, and being the nerd that I am, I had to take a picture of it. Pretty cool, huh? Makes Halloween mean so much more now.
My mother-in-law met us at the festival and joined us for the day. We loved watching our little monkey have a blast playing the games and winning candy at each station. Charlotte quickly picked up that her Halloween pumpkin was made for candy, and she was opening up that little pumpkin as much as she could. It was hilarious. She also picked a prize of funny glasses. Now when she puts them on, she’ll look in the mirror and laugh hysterically. (You can catch it on Snapchat if you hurry.)
After we had all the fun we could have at the festival, we headed out for lunch and then went home for nap time.
Each year, our neighborhood has a Halloween festival at our neighborhood clubhouse, and since the weather was less than stellar, it started a little late and was completely muddy. But we went and enjoyed ourselves as much as we could. The festival usually consists of bounce houses, a rock wall, a train for the kids, lots of food, a DJ, a balloon maker, and much more. Before we went, we took some pictures with our favorite monkey. She loved this outfit so much, and I certainly did, too.
Once we got to the neighborhood festival, Charlotte wanted to play on the playground. We had to wait until everything was set up, but we had no problem waiting. We were one of the first to ride the little choo-choo train, as Charlotte calls it, and I just can’t believe how much she’s grown. I have a picture of her from last year’s festival on the same exact train, and she is definitely a big girl now.
I think her favorite part about the festival though was the cotton candy. This was her first experience with the pink fluff, and I think her face says it all.
We went back home for pizza (a tradition that my family has had for as long as I can remember) and got ready to go trick-or-treating. It was dark by the time we went around the neighborhood, but Charlotte loved the excitement and the candy. We only went to a few houses around our culdesac and one block over, and then my little pumpkin was wiped. She was completely delirious when I was getting her ready for bed, and I think it might have had something to do with the sugar. We’re now detoxing from the candy rush, and now I’m constantly fighting the candy battle since there are more pieces in our house than I know what to do with. I’d say our Halloween was pretty spooktacular this year, and I’m so thankful for the memories yet again.
Which brings me to November. On Instagram this month, I’m going to be using a special hashtag to document something I’m thankful for each day. It could be small, big, messy, or beautiful. Gratitude is always the best attitude, and I hope you’ll join me. Just use #athankfulnovember when posting a picture where you’ve shared something you are thankful for. Easy peasy. I hope to see your pictures and gratitude fill up the hashtag’s feed.
Have a great week, friend! Go and spread a little cheer wherever you are. Talk to you soon.
Let’s keep in touch, shall we?

Love miss monkey’s costume! Glad y’all were able to have a fun time. This rain totally ruined everything. I didn’t get any pictures but a grainy phone snap from my mom. By the time it stopped raining, it was dark, although we did get to trick-or-treat! It looks like you guys got less rain than we did. Also, I LOVE your instagram hashtag! I wish I could participate. waaahhhh

You guys really know how to do Halloween! I hope you guys have an amazing trip to Napa!! I’m just a tad bit envious! xoxo

She looks so adorable! I’m so glad that Wyatt hasn’t really jumped on the “candy train” so I don’t have to fight it all day. We handed out most of the candy that he received. ha! We’re in trouble when he knows the difference.
