This year will be my second Mother’s Day. Last year, Charlotte was only three months old so I was still a fresh, brand-new mother, but MJ made it so very special for me. This year, Charlotte is 14 months old, and I don’t want to toot my own horn or anything, but by the Grace of God, we made it! We made it through the sleepless nights, the milestones, the first laughs, the first holidays, the first birthday, the first tantrums, the first everythings, and I couldn’t be more proud to be a mama. It is the biggest joy in the world to hear those sweet little words come out of my daughter’s mouth: MaMa. So if there is a day that celebrates all the love of a mother, I’m all for it. I am almost just as excited about Mother’s Day this year as I am about Christmas. Not for the gift giving or anything, but just for the acknowledgement of love. Because like the Beatles once said, and Corinthians, too, all you need is love.
Now, let’s just go ahead and get some Kleenex out and have ourselves a little cry session, okay. Because crying can be good for the soul. And these tears will be coming from a place of love. This week’s ‘Five on Friday: Favorite Things’ are all videos that have been circulating around the lovely world that is the internet. They all have to do with what has been a huge theme in all things social media this week: mothers.

Lysa TerKeurst recently had a post titled “Mother’s Day for the Motherless” and oh, how sweet it was. It started off like this:
As Mother’s Day approaches, my heart is especially sensitive to my friends for whom this holiday will be hard. I have friends who will be standing by gravesides this Mother’s Day. I also have friends whose moms haven’t been a part of their lives in many years. And those who have challenging relationships with their moms who try to navigate Mother’s Day with grace but some necessary distance.
No matter the circumstances, I wanted a post that could help those feeling the sting of a mother’s absence. My friend, Lisa-Jo, knows this delicate struggle in deep ways. And from her own pain, she pens these words for us…
Thanks to Lysa TerKeurst for being so compassionate and allowing her friend Lisa-Jo Baker to share her experience. Lisa-Jo ended her post with this video. I can’t wait to read her new book, Surprised by Motherhood.

My favorite radio station, KSBJ, just posted this video on their Facebook page. Too often, mothers can be so hard on themselves. Isn’t that the truth! Here’s a new perspective for moms, and it just so happens to be the perspective of their children. Loved this.

Yep, Hallmark does it again. This is the sweetest. Moms can be so selfless and such amazing super heroes. Perfect example below.

And lastly, because I left the real water-works for the end, is my girl Natalie Grant. This song was written for her daughters. I have now heard this song a couple of hundred times, and it still is hard for me to listen to without tears welling up in my eyes. The lyrics are perfection. The last verse gets me every time. Every single time.
