Today is my MJ’s birthday! And oh, how I love him so. Here are five reasons why I love this man and why celebrating him is such a joy.
1) He knows grammar.
When I first met my love, it was on Halloween. However, we didn’t go on our first date until February. The months between Halloween and February were spent with him trying to get me to go out with him. I always had an excuse. I really wasn’t playing hard to get or anything, I just thought, at the time, that I didn’t have time for a relationship (see this post for more details). But then he started to email me. And he was just as long-winded as I was! Ha! He also had the most impeccable grammar and had an incredible vocabulary. This would make any English teacher’s heart swoon. Needless to say, he won me over. It was meant to be to say the least. One date is all it took to know that he was the one. The rest shall we say is history. He now edits my blog posts. Go figure.
2) He makes me laugh.
Laughter is so good for the soul, and this is something that we do quite often. We have our own married couple sense of humor. He gets mine and I get his. Laughing: it’s one of my favorite things. The littlest things make us laugh, and I’m so glad I have my own built-in audience at our little comedy show that is our life. Just think of the Griswolds. We’re that kind of family.
3) He loves God.
My MJ loves Jesus. We have the best conversations talking about our faith, trying to learn more about it, and how to make it stronger. Because he loves God, he always wants the best for people. His kind heart and passion to have a good relationship with our Lord makes my heart full of gladness. We pray together and push each other into the arms of Jesus all the time. I love that about him.
4) He loves our baby girl and our family relentlessly.
There is not a thing that this man would not do for our family. I loved him before we had a family, but now that we have Charlotte, our love has grown to a whole new level. The way I see him care for her melts my heart. He always works his hardest to make sure we are cared for and have all that we need. He’s always shows his unconditional love, be it in small ways or big ways, and I am so grateful for that.

5) He is my biggest cheerleader.
MJ has always supported me in all my endeavors. When we were engaged, I was finishing up my master’s degree, and he would encourage me to give it my all. When we were about to have Charlotte, he knew I had dreams of staying home with her and made that dream of mine a reality. Any goal I have, he always wants me to achieve it. I am so thankful for his undying love and support always.
Because it’s his birthday and birthdays make me nostalgic, here is a quick little ditty I came up with to recap our life together so far. (Thanks Flipagram.) Here are just a few of my favorite pictures…or 117. Tears were flowing watching this back.
And since I know he’ll read this: I love you, my love. May you have the best birthday yet, and may this year be full of God’s blessings. May God continue to use you for His divine purpose. I’m so proud of who you are and who you have become. I’m so blessed to call you my husband. I’m so glad we get to do this thing called life together. These are the days.
