A couple of weeks ago, I listened to a podcast talking about how easy it is to lose sight of our dreams. We get stuck in our daily routines, we bury our heads in the sand, and we forget about the dreams and goals we once had. We throw up our hands and say, “Welp, this is it. This is my life. I guess I better accept it.” Now sometimes, our circumstances in life are crap. I get that. But most times, our circumstances own us instead of us owning our circumstances. It’s much easier to give up than to give it all we got. It’s when we stash away our dreams and lock them up deep in our hearts. Our fire for life turns into a faint flame, and we press on.
For me as a mom, I feel like I’ve let motherhood define me. It’s one of the most important jobs I’ve ever had to do, but the weight of the world can feel like it’s resting at my shoulders most days. Every day, I hope to do better than I did yesterday. Some days I do, and some days I don’t. Motherhood (or life in general) can be all consuming, and sometimes I’m too tired to even think about the dreams I once had.
But what if I told you that daring to dream again is OKAY? What if I told you that it’s okay to reach a place of complacency and say NO MORE? It’s then when we realize we are actually in control of our happiness and our dreams, that we have an identity outside of the people we care for, and that it’s okay to feel that way. When we know it and own it, we’re a much better person in all facets of our life. We realize that even in the hard seasons, we will reach for the goodness inside ourselves and claim it. We dare to dream again, because after all, the gifts God has given us to use for GOOD are our gifts back to Him.
I know it’s hard, but the excuses stop here. Dreams come in all shapes and sizes. Whatever it is, if God planted that seed in you, let it grow. If you need some words of affirmation to make it happen, here are seven to encourage you daily. Turn them into a prayer, and let’s watch what God can do.
- I can make my mess into a message.
- My strength is greater than any struggle.
- God never fails.
- I can do this.
- Not today, Satan.
- Spirit, lead me.
- I am strong, I am kind, I am important.
Baby steps, friend. Inch toward your goal, and every day you’ll be that much closer.
Every day might not be a good day, but there will always be good in your day.
Xoxo,
Kristy
