ONE.
Last night as I was washing up and getting ready for bed, I heard a hissing noise coming from outside. It sounded like our sprinklers were on, but I thought that to be odd since it was after 10:30 p.m. I asked M if he heard it too, and he went outside to investigate. Lo and behold, our A/C was billowing some sort of fog (maybe freon or refrigerant leaking?), and it sounded like our outside unit was spraying out something. We had to turn off our A/C, I called my dad, and we called our A/C guy. It wasn’t until midnight that we came up with a plan to get it fixed, so I totally missed the news about Dallas as it was happening. I saw things on my Facebook timeline this morning, and as I tried to turn on my TV to watch the morning news shows, I couldn’t because my cable box in my bedroom stopped working after it just got replaced yesterday. Really, TV?
This week has been crazy, y’all. Not just for me, but for the nation. Lord, have mercy. My problems seem so small in the grand scheme of things, and as I was texting M this morning about our current state of events in just our household, he asked if anything could go right or work right. And I told him no, because then we wouldn’t need Jesus.
I’ve prayed a lot this week for my own little problems which have seemed big to me. I prayed for our vehicle as we had to send it to the shop the day after coming home from vacation. It had to have a part replaced because it wasn’t working right, costing us an unexpected fee that we didn’t want. I prayed for my pregnancy and its costs as I went to my 30 weeks checkup and had to pay a big chunk of my delivery fee. And now I’m praying for my A/C as I’m waiting for our repair guy to come out and assess the situation. I’m hoping that it’s something small and that we won’t have to replace the entire unit because that would be a huge expense that nobody wants, especially us right now.
I’m also praying for our country and the world as it seems to have gone mad. Some people think that praying is useless, and that makes my heart hurt. Our life on this earth was never intended to be easy. If Jesus didn’t get the easy street, why on earth would we? We’re called to serve God and serve others. We’re called to be the light in the darkness. Even when it’s hard.
Just last night I shared this picture on Instagram of the sunset I caught while we were in NYC. My caption was this:
Sunsets always remind me of God’s glory, and God’s glory always reminds me of hope. Tonight, whatever struggle you’re facing, know that there is hope. With God, there is always hope.
“We put our hope in the Lord. He is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord, for our hope is in you alone.” Psalms 33:20-22 NLT
And that’s all we have, friends. Hope that we can be more like Jesus and to spread his LOVE.
TWO.
Whew, now that I got that off my chest, I want to share some things that have made my heart smile this week.
Charlotte’s first day of dance class was yesterday, and I melted. Leave my heart alone, people! I’ve waited for this day ever since I found out she was a girl. Her first day was nothing short of eventful. I didn’t know I was supposed to have tap shoes for her, so she had to stay in her ballet shoes, but that wasn’t such a big deal. What was a big deal was when all the smiles came to screeching halt five minutes before the class ended, because she realized she was starving. Seriously. Cue waterworks! We got out of there quickly and headed to Chick-fil-a where she demolished a kid’s meal and an ice cream. She never eats all of her food, so I was pleasantly surprised that she was actually eating. Despite the rocky ending to her first day in class, I can’t wait to see her continue dancing.
THREE.
Our trip to NYC has come and gone, but I’ll be sharing a recap of our adventure next week. I’ve been trying to stagger all of the million photos on Instagram, but it is what it is. ;) In the meantime, you can read yesterday’s post, Pre-Schooler Flight Essentials, all about Charlotte’s first flight, what we packed in her carry-on bag, and some tips I learned along the way.
FOUR.
Amazon Prime Day is next Tuesday, and the deals are supposed to be as good as Black Friday or Cyber Monday. One of my favorite things about Amazon Prime is Prime Video. It’s a streaming service much like Netflix, but the series offered on there are some of my favorites. Mr. Selfridge, all of the seasons of Downton Abbey, and more have been seen multiple times and it will get played more when I’m nursing again. The kid videos are even great, too! If you want a free Amazon Video trial, you can sign up HERE.
Or if you want to experience the full benefits of Amazon Prime, you can sign up for a free trial HERE. You’ll also get access to Amazon Prime Day deals early if you sign up for a free trial before Tuesday. ;)
FIVE.
This weekend The Secret Life of Pets comes out, and Charlotte is so excited about this movie. I don’t know if we’ll be able to catch it this weekend, but we will soon! What we will be catching this weekend is lots of bowls of cereal, because sometimes you just need to rely on easy breakfasts, you know? If you are a couponer and would love a great deal for Honey Nut Cheerios or Cheerios, you can find a great one HERE.
And that’s about the size of it. I hope you all find a little joy today and every day despite any obstacle or circumstance you’re going through. I’ll try and do the same! See you here next week.

it has been a crazy week in the States this week and it breaks my heart, especially for the children who lost their daddies this week :(
My daughter is 1.5 years old and I’m so excited to have her take dance! I’ve heard of a mommy and me dance class that I want to put her in when she’s 2 :)

Such precious words and so true. I love that thought that if everything was just right we wouldn’t need Jesus. Oh how we need him now in this country and this world. Your baby ballerina…so sweet! Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

We might have to check out Secret Life of Pets too! I think that’s a movie Abigail would really like!
