Oh, life lately has been something else. From Colin’s birth, it seems like the world has been standing still yet going so fast. Does that make sense? If you’re a mom, I’m sure you know exactly what I’m talking about. Since I haven’t had much time to document our days besides the occasional Instagram post or Snapchat snap, I thought I’d share a few things that have gone on through a little photo dump. Let the photo overload commence!
ONE.
Life as a family of four…
Exactly, @JennGietzen, exactly. My house has been in shambles as per usual, and it drives me absolutely insane. But feeding my little babe, feeding my other babette, taking out the dog, and trying to survive the day trumps cleaning. Charlotte hasn’t been napping. See evidence below.
So there you go. A typical day in the neighborhood.
But we have managed to survive a whole month and a week as a family of four.
A little bit tired and frazzled at times, but oh so happy.
We went out to Willie’s for our first dinner out as a family of four, and we’ve since gone to other places, too.
And I’ve even ventured out on my own with the two babies. Life made.
Of course, Colin is at a super easy stage during the day; he’s happy as long as he’s fed and changed. I’m taking advantage of it while I can.
TWO.
Becoming a big sister…
My sweet girl has had a huge learning curve and is still going through it, but we’ve made a conscious effort to make sure she still gets some one on one time with both M and myself. This past weekend, I took her to get her nails done, and M took her to Daniel Tiger Live. She is obsessed with Daniel Tiger at the moment, so she was in heaven.
So spoiled. Still working on that one.
THREE.
Oh, the pumpkin patch…
Our trip the pumpkin patch sure did look differently than it did last year. For one, it was super hot, and this year, it was just M and I wrangling a three and a half year old and a one month old. Charlotte got so hot that she ended up throwing up, and we got zero pumpkin pictures. Whatevs. Life isn’t always a photo shoot. (#realtalk) We had fun while it lasted though! It was a rough day that day, but we got through it.
I shared some words on Instagram about it and a song that has been on repeat lately. The song is by Jonny Diaz, and I just added it to my Christian playlist on Spotify if you’re looking for some uplifting words to get you through any season of life.
FOUR.
Colin Michael…
I just got a sneak peek of his newborn photos by Pink Posh Photographers and I’m in love. Just look how much he’s changed this past month.
My chunky monkey. Man, we love him so. (If you missed his one month update, you can read it here.)
FIVE.
An oldy, but goody…
I just shared this picture on Instagram, and I wanted to make sure you have this recipe in your life. You can find it in this post: the best pumpkin bread recipe. It’s the most moist pumpkin bread recipe I’ve found, and thanks to my friend Traci, you can make it now, too.
And that’s all I’ve got today, folks. From my crazy crew to yours…
Happy weekend! As always, thanks for following along. :)
P.S. Is there anything you’d like me to blog about in this new season of my life? Let me hear it. My brain is only half working right now, so any inspiration you can throw my way would be much appreciated.
LYLAS!

I loved reading about your family of four. We welcome ours in December–excitedly nervous about the days ahead.

Awww how sweet you all look! Love the fun photos, even if Jumanji is code for the game of life right now! Btw, you look great! : mama hugs: :D

Such fun busy times! When my bigs were this size I was also finishing my last semester of college. I’m sure it was wild but looking back I don’t remember it being to tough to handle. That’s the thing about us moms right? We just keep fighting the good fight! Hope y’all have a restful weekend?

I loved catching up on your life, friend! You are rocking this mom of two gig. Don’t sweat the pumpkin patch debacle — when I took the girls last year, it was a DISASTER. They complained the entire day, it was hot and dusty and everyone was crazy. We actually did get great photos, but we laugh every time we look at them because they are nothing like the memories we have of the day. ;)

Loving the update! Sound like you guys are rocking this family of four thing! I can’t get over how big and grown up Charlotte looks these days and just how little bitty that baby is! This is giving me baby fever all over again!

SO that Jumanji quote is SO true! I feel like I’m still trying to catch up from having two and Jud is almost 3. What in the world?! I will tell you that I hired a bi-weekly house cleaner and that was the best thing EVER. No matter what, 2 days a month our house is going to be amazing and clean ALL at the SAME time!! :)

All those smiling faces mean you’re winning at life lady. You got this!
