Happy Friday! Well, this week has definitely not gone as planned. Anyone else? Maybe it’s just me, but things keep going awry and things have popped up that have made me stressed, but I won’t bore you of all the details. Not to mention that in only 14 DAYS, we’ll be welcoming in another little human into the world. No big deal. Relax, they say. So I’ve been trying my best to roll with the punches and do just that.
Because when life gets tough, so do you!
Now let’s have a little coffee date chit chat.
Here are a few things from this week.
ONE.
Getting ready for baby…
I could cry looking at these pictures. Only 14 more days of it being just the two of us.
Charlotte’s been super clingy this week. I’ve been trying to make sure she feels loved and treasured, but sometimes my patience has gotten the best of me, making me feel horrible. She has to know that her little brother is almost here, because she talks about him constantly, and she’s been needing and seeking out more attention. I know she’s experiencing a little anxiety, because hello, she’s my daughter; I’m sure that’s a trait that was passed down to her. :/ She’s also has a little cold from allergies, so she’s needed lots of extra love. I don’t blame her.
While we’ve been trying to soak up these last days of having a family of three, I won’t be sad to say goodbye to this big bump (until I’m sleep deprived…then I’ll be wishing it was back). I have no peripheral vision anymore and bump into everything.
I’ve been riding the emotional rollercoaster of the last weeks of pregnancy like a champ if champs cry at the drop of a hat. I had mentioned that my sugar levels were off at my last appointment on Instagram and Facebook. I got my results back from a blood test, and my sugar was high, but my doctor isn’t too concerned. He said it may have been my lunch that threw it off. They’ll repeat the test at my next (and last) appointment next week. In the meantime, I have to be cognizant of my carb and sugar intake. Fun!
I had a panic attack thinking my little babe would have to come early because of this, but I do not want that to happen for the sheer fact that my doctor will be on vacation until September 7. I need this baby to wait until September 9, because I love my doctor and would be devastated if I had to have someone else deliver. Praying, praying, praying.
TWO.
A new set of perspectacles…
This is worth noting: I finally got new glasses. The last time I bought new glasses was in 2008. While I loved my old frames, my lenses were shot. I couldn’t see very clearly out of them, so I bit the bullet and bought a new pair. A few of you asked about my new frames, and I found them on Amazon for way less than I paid at my eye doctor’s office.
They are the Tory Burch frames, model number TY2056 in the color 1476. I am loving them!
THREE.
Knocking out the pre-baby to-do list…
This picture was taken last December, the last time I cut and colored my hair (and right before I was pregnant…Hey, old self!). I am FINALLY getting a haircut and coloring my grays today, and I am so excited! I could put a million exclamation points right there, but I’ll refrain. It’s one of the things I knew I wanted to do right before delivering, because I know it’ll be a hot minute before I go back to the salon. I’m also going to get a mani/pedi done at some point, but I can’t remember if I can have my nails painted for a c-section? Anyone remember?
What else do I need to do pre-baby? Besides the typical nesting?
FOUR.
Do not pass go until you’ve read this…
This, my friend, is a reminder for all of us. If you can’t open up the “see more,” click over to my Facebook page by moving your cursor over to the words “on Wednesday,” and it should open up in a new tab.
I’m telling you. Jen Hatmaker has been killing it lately with her words. Bottom line is: BE YOU, the person God made you to be. No ifs, ands, or buts.
FIVE.
Now watch this if you want to smile…
I saw this video this morning, and it put a big ol’ smile on my face. If you’re a fan of Britney Spears or even if you’re not, this should make you smile or laugh. James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke segments are my favorite! Adele’s is still my favorite, but this was pretty great.
That’s a ballgame, folks!
I had set my goals pretty high this past week and wanted to publish 13 blog posts before I delivered (5 this week, 5 next, 3 the week of baby), but it’s not happening. Clearly. I’m hoping though that I can have something every day next week for sure. I still have so many things I want to cover. I think it’s because I have this fear that blogging will be extremely difficult with a newborn. Why ever would I think that?
I’ll talk to you soon, sister. Have the best weekend ever! And for all of you who welcomed in a new school year, get some rest this weekend. Be blessed! Xoxo
P.S. Thanks for reading and being here! You’re the best!

Eek so excited for you and your family. I prayed Leighton wouldn’t come early because my doctor was out of town too. Also they told me painted nails were fine just not shellac in case they do have to take it off to check oxygen or whatever it is.
