Happy Friday! (Imagine I’m shouting that like Oprah would.) I always share my favorite things from the week, but sister friend, I am T-I-R-E-D. I’m keeping this super short. Well, as super short as a long-winded person can. Here are five truths from the week.
ONE.
Michael has been gone for work for what seems like forever now. It’s just been Charlotte and me for majority of the week, and it’s been pretty exhausting. I appreciate him more and more every day, but this week has made me appreciate him even more. I can’t wait for him to be home this morning, because I need my right-hand-man.
TWO.
Ever since we got back from New York, it seems like I haven’t been able to get caught up. Scratch that. Ever since I found out I was pregnant in January, it seems like I haven’t been able to get caught up. My house has been in shambles, and I have a blogging to-do list a mile high. This week, all I’ve wanted to do is read my new Emily Giffin book because the intro and chapter one were so good, but I haven’t been able to. Working on sponsored posts, working on potty training my little bug, and trying to keep us fed have been my priority this week. However, feeling like I can’t keep up is making me nervous and anxious about having another baby. Nervous meaning more like scared to death.
THREE.
We dropped the dance class.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, I shared this post on Instagram (and on Facebook, too).
A lot of you commented and had great advice about how to go about it. I was hopeful she would like it. But yesterday when we went to her class, she didn’t want anything to do with it. As soon as the door opened for the tiny dancers to go in to class, Charlotte refused to go in and burst into tears. My mama instinct said that’s enough. We stayed and chatted with our friends watching the dancers through the window, and Charlotte was all about that, but she still refused to go in. I got a refund for the remainder of the classes I had paid for, and we’re calling it a loss. I’m not seeing this as her being a quitter. She’s three. I picked the class for her, and I thought she would like. She didn’t, so I decided that not going back is best for now. We’ll try something new in the new year. We have way too much going on with a new baby coming in just eight short weeks.
FOUR.
The dog days of summer are upon us. It is stupid hot here in Houston: 110 degree heat index and 85% humidity. It’s just obnoxious. Yesterday, we went swimming and had pizza by the pool to try and enjoy the summer evenings, and that was a nice change up. But I have to admit something. I’ve been eating way too much lately, even if I do indulge on healthy snacks. I really hope I can simmer it down, because this third trimester is going to be a doozy if I don’t. Being indoors for the A/C majority of the days means that I either a) want to snack or b) want to get out to go to a restaurant. And pizza, I just can’t quit you! This pregnancy is starting to weigh me down. My belly is bumping into things, and it’s getting harder and harder to find a comfortable position to sit and sleep. Wake me up when September comes. (If you know what song lyric that is, we can definitely be friends.)
FIVE.
This picture has nothing to do with what I’m about to say, but I wanted to share it. Humor me.
I’m getting the itch to nest, and it’s making me crazy. I want to purge everything, throw away all the junk, declutter, and just start fresh…and I’m talking about in my whole house. As for the nursery, I have zero accessories for it, and if we weren’t using Charlotte’s nursery furniture, we would have three onesies from my sister, a book from a sweet friend, and a pair of Freshly Picked moccs from my sister for sweet baby boy. That’s it. We do need to get in the attic and see what newborn things we can salvage, but I wouldn’t be disappointed if we became minimalists at this point.
And that’s about all I have to say about that.
Any new movies out on OnDemand, Netflix, Amazon Prime, or HBO that we need to watch this weekend? We just watched The Intern last week, and it was precious. We’ve been watching it over and over ever since.
Next week on Seven Graces, I’ll be sharing our NYC pictures in what I’m hoping will be helpful travel posts. I’ll also be talking about our potty training journey.
Have a great weekend, peeps! Stay safe and blessed and keep praying for this crazy world. Talk to you soon!

Travelling husband weeks are thethe worst! Mine will be gone the whole month of August so I may need some consoling lol
We tried tee ball when LT was 3. He hated it and cried the whole time. We quit after a few tries. It was a good decision. Now that he’s almost 6 it’s pretty obvious he’s not into sports. Soon C will show you exactly what interests her and you’ll be loving it.
Love Green Day 😉💚

Oh no! An entire month has got to be the pits.
Yeah, Charlotte just wasn’t feeling it, and I have no energy to fight it. She’ll find something she likes soon. Soon being a while after I have this baby. ;)
And yes, 90s forever! Michael thought my lyric was lame. Lol.

I’m there with the nesting. I have taken 8 SUV loads to Goodwill. 2nd baby is using L’s crib and one of her dressers but I feel like I had the nursery much more put together the first time. Bedding is on order (and backorder!!) from PBK and I still need to buy her a new dresser and glider. For now, we are clearing out our attic and I’ve been cleaning out closets for weeks. I need to send you a pic of the craft closet–color coding the embroidery thread and painstakingly labeling all the supply totes made my teacher heart go pitter-pat.
Right now the current stressor is work appropriate maternity clothes! Motherhood Maternity is a big fat fail for me.
Kristy says
Courtney! When are you due?! I imagine we’ll have about that much to take to Goodwill, too. My mom is taking Charlotte for a weekend, and we are nesting while she’s away. How lame is that?! Lol. I already had Charlotte’s ready to go by this point, and right now I have nothing but her old furniture. :/ Please send me a picture, too! I want to redo my pantry and wash room and playroom. Agh! So much to do!
Gap and Old Navy have really cute swing dresses. So don’t forget to look at non-maternity options, too. They’ll last way longer than any maternity dress, too. ;)

I’m so sorry she didn’t like dance clcass! I took for a year when I was 5 and HATED it and then started up again in Fourth Grade and I was obsessed and dancced all through college. Maybe she will come around later on!

Yeah, I just don’t think she likes the whole big class concept. Maybe if it was one on one, but for now, it’s a no-go. We’ll see what she ends up liking! I think she has plenty of time to find something she loves. :)

Oh man… this is why we haven’t put scarlett into dance yet… I feel like she might be ready now but who knows. We start independent swimming lessons on Monday (wish us luck!!) I’m sorry you had to pull her out but you can try again in a year. I found Scarlett changed a lot in this past year, I can’t really explain it but there’s been a shift and she’s really come into her own.. maybe Charlotte will be the same and want to dance in a year!
I remember when Adam used to go away for work! It was so hard and I learned to appreciate him so much more when he was away!!
Also I can’t wait to see NYC pictures! XO Have a great weekend, love!!
Kristy says
Oooh, I hope she ends up liking swim lessons! Charlotte did like those, but I was in there with her. I don’t know how she would be without me. She’d probably really like it considering she likes to swim in the pool at our friend’s house, but you just never know with these girls. She has grown so much this summer, but she’s also become super clingy. I think it’s because she knows her world is about to change. ;)
Yep. We’re back to the same routine as last with our guy being away. It was so nice to have him home. It’s crazy how much he does around here, and I definitely don’t take it for granted!
I have so many pictures of NYC, I could have about 5 recaps. I’m sure you understand! But I’m still trying to narrow it down. Hopefully I can come up with something by Wednesday.

Oh no, sorry your daughter didn’t enjoy dance class. Not that my opinion matters, because the mom knows best, but I think you made a great choice by not pushing it! She looks like she’s enjoying swimming in that pool though! Pregnant in summer, uugh! I remember those days with my son….and I wasn’t in Texas with a 110 heat index! Good luck staying cool and getting through the remainder of the pregnancy! Stopping by from H54F!! Have a great weekend!
Kristy says
Thank you! Yes, she does love swimming! And yes, pregnancy is a beast in this heat. Thanks so much for the well wishes! Xoxo

I saw your post on Instagram about the dance class and it must have been so hard for you. When I was 3 my Mom put me in dance and I didn’t make it through the dress rehearsal or recital. She said she just told me it was okay and no big deal! I do give her a hard time now because she didn’t try me in it again until I was 10 and asked to go, haha! Xoxoxoxoxo Stay cool in this heat – I’ve got one month of pregnancy left and refuse to leave the house!
Chelsea Jacobs says
I think it’s so sweet that you just went with it and didn’t force her to do the class!
Courtney {Alkeks Abroad} says
We just watched The Night Of on HBO this afternoon and it was really good. There’s only been one episode so far but it kept my attention for over an hour when I really wanted to a nap, so obviously it was a winner haha. I think you made a good call on dance. You don’t need to put any extra stress on either of you when the biggest life change is about to happen. Also, I love the chambray dress Charlotte is wearing 😍.
Ashley Dorey says
It’s so hot outside. It’s ridiculous. We’re either at the pool or stuck inside because, well, that’s all there is to do. I’m signing Stella up for a little dance class this fall and hoping she loves it. But if not, I’ll definitely follow your lead and pull her out.
Ashley says
I’m sure you’re sill getting me all sorts of advice on Charlotte and dance class….maybe she might enjoy something that’s a Mommy and Me class? We took Ellie to parent/child gymnastics and she LOVED it. We tried a parent/child dance class and Ellie was a wild child and it just wasn’t right for her…although she asks to go to dance all the time – I think it’s too “slow paced” for her. I know you’re so close to baby boy being here, but maybe Charlotte will do better if you’re in class with her??
Also I just watched The Intern last night and I’m obsessed!! So cute!!!
