Happy Friday and holiday weekend! This week has been a pretty good one. Today marks a very sentimental day for me and my family, but like always, I’m pushing through. Before I go into that, I wanted to share a few of my favorite things this week. Some of these things, I know you will love, so take notes if you want! ;)
ONE.
Girl Dates & Baby Prep
I mean, are there days that get any better than girl dates with your best friend? This little girl has my heart forever, and I am so thankful for all of the time we’ve been spending together lately. We always are together, but for some reason our time with each other lately has meant so much more. I shared this on Instagram the other day, and I want to share it again here. You know, for documentation’s sake.
She’s going to be the best big sister, and I know we’ll still have our special times, even after our family changes and grows.
While we’ve been getting the nursery together, she gets so excited about anything new we put up or any new outfit we look at for her “baby Colin.” She calls him that all the time, and it’s the cutest thing ever in her little accent.
We just put up the nursery prints that my Dad got us, and I think it makes for the perfect centerpiece in the room. I can’t wait to share the entire nursery once it’s done! Charlotte is in love with it as much as she loves her room, but she especially loves the zoo animals. She points at each one, tells us what each animal is, and makes the appropriate sound. I think she’ll be teaching her little brother everything she knows.
TWO.
Levana Mylo™ 5” Touchscreen High Resolution PTZ Video Baby Monitor
A couple of weeks ago, Levana sent me their new 5″ touchscreen color monitor, and I am in love with it! I’ve used a baby monitor since we brought Charlotte home from the hospital, and while I had no complaints about my old one, this new Levana is bigger and better than what I’ve used before.
A few of my favorite things about the Levana Mylo monitor are:
- the huge 5″, high resolution touchscreen
- color screen & invisible LED night vision
- a pan/zoom/tilt camera
- 12 hour battery life so I can move it with me wherever I go while my babe is sleeping
- temperature sensor
- feeding timers
- built-in sound machine (this is a two-for-one!)
- two-way communication
- super thin
- convenient USB charger
Using a monitor has helped us keep a peace of mind, helped us through sleep training, and helped us watch our baby grow. I can’t wait to use this one for Colin’s room, too.
THREE.
Getting Organized with ToteSavvy
Yesterday on Snapchat and my Instastory, I shared the hot mess that was my purse. I’ve been using this Louis Vuitton Neverfull GM as my baby bag since Charlotte turned two, and it’s my favorite bag. But it can get super heavy with it being the catchall of crappola. (Seriously, it had about five pounds of Cheddar Bunnies at the bottom of it.) Since this purse isn’t technically a baby bag, the organization was lacking. Thankfully, people have thought of a solution for making your favorite big purse or bag into a baby bag: the ToteSavvy!
With nesting and organizing running through my veins right now, this little gadget couldn’t have come at a better time! Yesterday, I cleaned out my purse and organized the heck out of it using the original ToteSavvy. It has 11 pockets and some of these cool features: an insulated bottle/sippy cup pocket, key clasp, changing mat, cell phone pocket, and flat pocket for paperwork.
It helped make my purse so much lighter! I love it.
The ToteSavvy also comes in a mini-version, which is perfect for my new baby bag backpack. My sister ordered the KikiLu for me, and the mini ToteSavvy will fit perfectly into it! I can’t wait to organize this bad boy, too.
FOUR.
Peach simply soft bralette // Peach simply soft relaxed leggings
A couple of week’s ago, one of my blogging friends, Natasha from Hello! Happiness Blog, shared her experience with Peach bra fitting services. I was so intrigued, loving the concept, and I commented on her Instagram picture. Shortly after, I was introduced to Ashlan Zurbriggen. She is the sweetest person, and she uses her bra fitting service as part of her ministry. A girl after my own heart!
I told Ashlan my needs for the type of bra I was looking for, a nursing bra, and she helped me find the perfect fit all through email! She threw in a pair of leggings for me, and I kid you not, these leggings are the softest leggings I have ever felt. I’m so thrilled to have a pretty nursing bra and the comfiest pants for life postpartum.
Here’s a little more about how the Peach services work:
Peach® is changing the way women shop for intimate and basic apparel by blending a personalized, in home experience with a convenient online replenishment service that ensures women always have what they need in their top two drawers. How fun is that? Customized bra fitting from your very own home!
A peach® stylist helps you say goodbye to dressing room drama by bringing the dressing room to you – in person [or by video], one on one or in a group. In the comfort of your own home, a party with all your girlfriends, or however you want to do it!
Using a patented sizing system, a peach® personal stylist will help you fill your two top drawers with beautifully fitting bras – as well as comfortable and elegant panties and basics. Finally, you set your replenishment schedule so that your favorite peach® products are delivered right to you automatically, as often as you need them.
The online/video services (even Facetime) are my favorite since so many of us moms have so little time to get to appointments, etc. This allows women to stay in the comfort of their home, and it takes just 10 minutes or so to get some new, beautiful, and comfortable undergarments.
I think every mom owes it to herself to have this service done.
The best way to contact Ashlan is by phone 715-441-8106 or email ashlan.carnel@gmail.com. She is the best!
FIVE.
One Year Later…
And now for the heavy piece of my heart. Today marks one year since my Popo left this earth. I shared these words on Instagram last night:
“…there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think of him. I can still hear his voice, see his smile, and feel his presence. I wish he were here to see his next great-grand baby, but I’m pretty sure he already knows my little angel.
My grandpa, being the deacon that he was, was one of my biggest spiritual influences, and for that I am forever grateful. He taught me to laugh at the silly things, pray about the hard things, and love all of God’s people. I hope I can teach my children the same.”
“You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you. This I command you, that you love one another.” John 15:16-17 NASB
I shared that verse from the Book of John, because I think it embodies exactly how my grandpa lived. God chose him to be a minister, just like God chooses each of us for a very specific reason before we ever know it. We don’t choose God. God chooses us. And if there is one thing I loved about my grandpa (besides all the millions of things I loved), it was his humble service and love for everyone. I hope I can be half the person he was.
Thank you to everyone who has shared their sympathies with me. Many blessings to you now and always.
And that’s all I have to say about that. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend wherever you are! See you here next week for a couple more posts before baby. :)
