Happy Friday! I hope you had a happy week. I know I sure did. Like most weeks, this one flew by for me. I think it has something to do with the fact that I felt super productive and stayed in a positive mindset. I even blogged four days in a row. Say what?! I’ll stick with blogging three days a week though, because I am now one tired mama. Now let’s get to this week’s five confessions, good vibes only edition…
ONE.
I shared this picture on Instagram this week along with what I’m about to say, but I tell you what, I talk a lot about the same thing over and over when I’m anxious. Charlotte will start Mother’s Day Out in September, and I’m almost all set for her to start. The school supplies are bought and so are the clothes, but my heart is eager. I guess it’s because it marks a huge milestone for my sweet girl. I could write an entire post about it, and I probably will. In the meantime, we’ll read books to get us ready for “school.” What’s your favorite back to school book?
TWO.
How awesome is this gold foil print from Emily Ley? I just got this in the mail about a week ago, and I can’t wait to find a frame to put this in my kitchen. These family rules are perfect: be kind, use manners, always listen, and love big. Yes. Absolutely, yes.
THREE.
I am so excited for my friend Jessica from the blog Pig & Dac. Her first book, Anything Can Be, is now on Amazon, and I’m so proud of her! This book is short, but it’s super helpful to get your mind right. It definitely helped remind me to think positively and to dwell on God and His goodness. It’s not even a religious book, but it’s how I interpreted it. To me, the law of attraction is the same as reaping what you sow, and it can’t get much simpler than that. Definitely check this out! The Kindle version is free, and the paperback copy is less than three dollars. It also comes with worksheets for my fellow Type A notetakers.
FOUR.
My latest piece on Houston Moms Blog came out this week, and I’d love if you chimed in with your thoughts. You can find 5 Reasons Why I Love the Pinterest Moms here. Because really, there is so much hatred on the internet these days, I figured the Pinterest moms could use some love.
FIVE.
And last, but not least, drumroll, please…3D Lashes! I am so excited to share with you my experience with the Younique 3D fiber lashes. Kim Skinner was so kind and sent me the mascara to try, and I was so excited because I wanted to see if it lived up to the hype. I’m sure you’ve seen this mascara by now, right? I was skeptical at first, but it really is a great mascara.
In case you’ve never heard of Younique, not only does the Moonstruck 3D Fiber Lashes come in pretty packaging, the mascara is enriched with uplift eye serum, ophthalmologist approved, made in the USA, has no gluten, soy, parabens, soy, or sulfates, made with plant-based rayon fibers, and is hypoallergenic. Sounds like the kind of mascara we should all be using. (P.S. I’m not being paid to say any of this, I’m just giving you the details because it’s cool.)
Now for my test. The application takes a little bit longer than regular mascara because it’s three steps, but I’d say it’s worth the few extra seconds of application. Kim told me to remember gel-fibers-gel. So that’s what I did. I made sure to not let the gel dry after step 1 before I put on the fibers. I think that’s the point. Then you set it with the gel as your final step.
Voila! Here’s my before and after.
Pretty impressive, huh? It left my lashes very full and the longest I’ve seen them with any mascara I’ve used. I’m definitely getting the hang of it, and I’ll be using this as my go-to from now on. I had it on when MJM got home from work yesterday, and he even complimented me on how pretty I looked. The face below is what he came home to. Most of the time he comes home to that “before” picture. Haha.
I think I’ll stick to using the 3D lashes. If you want to try it out or have any questions, you can contact Kim through email at kawskinner@hotmail.com or through her Younique website. She was so nice and helpful, and she always answered any question I had quickly. She’s a doll.
And that’s a wrap! I hope you have a wonderfully blessed weekend, and I’ll see you here next week. Stay fancy.
Let’s keep in touch, shall we?

i just order the lash kit. and i’m SO excited to see if it really works. fingers are definitely crossed :) and i know sending charlotte away to MDO is terrifying and sad and exciting. but i promise once shes settled you wont know how you lived without it (i promise you!).
Kristy says
I hope you love it as much as I do! I will be honest and say it does take a couple of times to get it just right. But once you get the hang of applying thin coats, you should love it!
I’m excited but nervous about MDO. I do need the time to work though. I’m looking forward to that for sure!
Darcy from A Memory of Us says

Thanks, girl! They have the cutest purple ones right now with fun designs. I love it! I’m sure this will last a while too. :)
Amanda {Tickled Pink} says
Oh mama! We can curl up in a ball and cry together and then the following week throw a party ;) out girlies are gonna grow & flourish by leaps and bounds!! At least that’s what I keep telling myself ;-)
Kristy says
I hope so, Amanda! That’s a mama’s constant prayer, isn’t it? :) We can do this! Lol.
Jennifer | The Deliberate Mom says
Oh, those milestones. They are exciting, but they make us sentimental mamas emotional, don’t they?
As a Christian, I saw Jessica’s book the same way… sowing and reaping. Yes!
I am a mascara junkie! I love a good mascara! Your lashes look FABULOUS!
Thanks for sharing.
Wishing you a lovely day.
xoxo
Kristy says
Yes. Sentimental hot messes! Lol.
I’m so glad you saw Jessica’s book the same way. :) I loved it!
Thanks for the mascara compliment. If only I was a makeup lover like Meg that would be super awesome. Concealer and mascara are about the only things I ever want to wear. Lol
Jennifer | The Deliberate Mom says
I only wear concealer and mascara too! My go-to, I’m in a rush make-up products. I’ll do the occasional eyeliner if I have the time… and lipstick is a rarity! lol
Colleen says
I saw the close up of the mascara picture was on your IG and my first thought was how amazing you lashes look! Just beautiful!! I can’t wait for school to start — Owen is really looking forward to his new class too!
PS Did you guys watch Fear the Walking Dead last night? We’re going to watch it tonight and I’m so excited!
Kristy says
Yes! We watched it thanks to you. :) I found the next air time and DVR’d it. We just finished watching it. OMG. It looks like this will be a good one!
Annie {Home of Malones} says
Tell Kim Skinner I just ordered some fiber lashes from her!!!
Kristy says
Woohoo! That is so sweet, Annie. She is so excited! I hope you love it as much as I do. :) It took a little practice to get it just right, but now it’s all I wear. :)
