Currently Confessing | Vol. 14…The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Happy Friday, my beautiful friends! This week has been a doozy. It’s the first time in a very long time that I have only had two blog posts up during the week, instead of at least three, and that has made me a tad bit sad. But life happens, and thank God for grace. I’m hoping to make up for it next week. Here’s what happened in case you missed it: I came home from a wonderful vacation late Sunday night to a sick baby (this is almost week three of having a sick baby), then I got sick myself. Talk about a reality check. This week, Charlotte’s been battling bronchitis, and I’ve been battling a pesky cold. However, moms don’t have time to be sick.
Here’s us at the doctor’s office at the beginning of the week.

I’m definitely not going to let it keep me down, especially this weekend, because it’s THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR. Here’s what’s currently going…


ONE.
Thinking about…
my birthday! I’ll be 33 on Monday. I don’t even know what to say about that. Actually I have a lot to say about that. I think Monday’s post will be dedicated to what I know at 33. Kind of like Taylor’s Swift’s 22. Stay tuned.

TWO.
Shopping at…
The Houston Ballet Nutcracker Market! I am so stinking excited about it. For the past four or five years, I’ve gone to the best shopping extravaganza that Houston has to offer, and all the booths are always over-the-top amazing. This year, I’m attending with two of my aunts while my mom stays behind with Charlotte. See what I mean about how I am not going to let this cold keep me down? No thank you. Last year, my favorite things I purchased from the market were our first ornaments as a family of three (as seen above). I’ll be buying another couple of ornaments this year, because yearly ornaments have kind of become a thing in our family. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! And I think we just might put our Christmas tree up next week. It’s cold enough here now, so I think it’s okay to go ahead and get festive. Thanksgiving will forgive me, I’m sure. ;) 
THREE.
Looking forward to… 

Christmas cards! Since we’re talking about the most wonderful time of the year, that means Christmas cards are ready to be ordered and sent out. I mean, I’m not ready just yet, but I see all of y’all taking your pictures and posting about your favorite card makers. Personally, we chose to forgo Christmas portraits. Not upset about that at all. Not one bit. Ha! But I am excited for my favorite photographer, also known as my hubs, to take some photos of our best, little gift who reminds us of Christ’s love year-round. She was the star of our card last year (as seen above), so I think we can continue on with the trend. I’m super excited to pick our new cards. We went with Shutterfly last year, and depending on who has the best deal is who we’ll go with this year. I just love sending them out, and I absolutely love getting them in the mail from all of my family and friends. Displaying them on our mini-Christmas tree is one of my favorite traditions. Can’t wait! Where do you order your Christmas cards?

FOUR.
Thankful for…
this little, coloring munchkin! Even though she has been sick this week, Charlotte has really started to love coloring. It was the cutest thing to see her plop down on the floor, lie down on her stomach for the first time, and start coloring with her daddy. Little Miss has been super clingy with me this week, but as long as she had this little coloring book in her hand and me as her pillow, she’s been a happy camper. And how cute are her Christmas pajamas? Heart swoon. P.S. Color Wonder is amazing! We have these markers and will be ordering more of these coloring books ASAP. 
FIVE.
Excited about…

this Christmas Cheer Exchange! This is my first holiday season as a blogger, and I am so excited about that. I just signed up for this super fun Christmas Cheer Exchange, and you can, too. :) All bloggers can sign-up to join in on the fun. Here are some of the details: 

  • Sign up by emailing Astleigh at hillcollectionblog@gmail.com or by emailing Rachel or Kailtin to let them know you want to participate. You will provide your name and mailing address.
  • The sign-up ends on Nov. 21st, so be sure to do so soon!
  • Each participant will be randomly assigned to another participant. You will receive a package from a different participant, not necessarily the person who you send your package to. 
  • On Nov. 24th the hostesses will send each participant the blogger that you will be sending your box of Christmas goodies to. 
  • Put a box together of Christmas-inspired items. The total of your box items should be $10.
  • Ship your Christmas Cheer box on Dec. 1st.
  • Once you receive your package, make sure to take photos and write a fun blog post about it. :)
  • On Dec. 10th Rachel, Kaitlin, and Ashleigh will be hosting a link-up to share the Christmas Cheer Box you received.
How fun is that?! I already signed up. Will I get your name?

  42. i love this list you have put together. we have cute little ornaments like that too, I wish though, that we got one last year for Palmer’s first Christmas! I have to start shopping around for Christmas cards too! It’ll be here before you know it! :)

    • You can still get a first Christmas ornament. They make them everywhere, and I’m sure she wouldn’t know the difference. Just put last year on it. ;) I have yet to even look for cards. I haven’t even taken pictures of Charlotte for this year’s card either. Oh well. I’m sure I can come up with something we already have. Lol.
