Cheers to the weekend! And happy everything! The weather this week has been pretty great in Houston, but we’ve definitely gotten glimpses of the heat to come. If only the weather could stay this nice until September. Ha! It’ll be in the 100s in no time, I’m sure, but we’re enjoying the cool, sunny days while we can.
We’ve been spending lots of time outdoors, and I think we’ll plan on doing more of the same this weekend. Here are some highlights of the week and some things that are currently going on:
ONE.
Date nights and days.
With M being off this last month, we’ve definitely tried to enjoy our time together as much as possible. Being able to go to breakfast or lunch with him at the drop of the hat has been the highlight. We’ve also enjoyed two movies when Charlotte’s been at school. This week we saw God’s Not Dead 2, and we loved it! These types of movies are always a little bit cheesy, but they just make you feel good when you walk out of the theatre. If you haven’t seen it, definitely go if you can. It’ll warm your heart for sure.
We also had a really nice date night last night celebrating the start of another chapter for M. He’ll be starting a new job on Wednesday. Thank you all for the prayers as we’ve been on this wild journey. It really means the world to me to have been praying together. I’ll continue to pray for those families still searching for employment, especially my Houston people affected by the oil & gas downturn. Here’s to better days!
TWO.
Charlotte being a big girl.
Lately, I’ve been noticing every single thing that this one is doing that’s new and exciting. She is a hoot and a holler. She cracks me up all the time, and she talks more and more with each passing day. This week, she was playing with her water table, and she decided she needed to give herself a birdbath. Silly goose! She thought it was hilarious, and so did her daddy. It wasn’t even bath night, but it sure did become one.
I’ve also been super emotional during this pregnancy about all of the little things. I could go on forever, but apparently, I’m not alone. A lot of you have told me that you went through the same emotions when you were pregnant with a second child. Let the emotional rollercoaster continue!
THREE.
Donuts with Dad.
Charlotte’s school had a really cute program called Donuts with Dad, and she was so excited about it. They made gifts for their dads and treated them with donuts and coffee. Cutest thing ever. I’m really thankful for her to be part of such a great school, and I’m so thankful that M was able to go with her. They both loved it.
FOUR.
Baby Boy’s first gift.
After we got back from Austin this weekend, I had a sweet little package waiting for me. I think I had mentioned to my sister that I had been pretty bummed about not being able to be as excited as I wanted about this pregnancy because of all the outside stresses we’ve been dealing with lately. Maybe it’s also a second child thing, but I hadn’t even bought anything for him yet nor had I even thought about it. Well, leave it to my sister to get things done. She surprised me and sent a package addressed specifically to him (yes, he already has a name) with the sweetest little moccasins ever! She also wrote him the most beautiful note. Of course I cried.
FIVE.
Favorite Drugstore Beauty Products?
Last year, I did a roundup of all of the beauty products I use and love. Well, I need to get a little more frugal in this department, so I’m asking all of you to share with me your favorite drugstore beauty products, everything from skin care to hair products. I’m desperately in need of a new concealer and powder, but I don’t know what I’ll use next. I did get some great ideas from some of you on Facebook, and of course I’ll be looking at all of Meg’s suggestions, but I do want to hear your tried and true favorites, too. And yes, I’ll be compiling the list and sharing it with you soon. ;)
One last thing before I go…I’m moving Seven Graces to Word Press! I have been wanting to do this for over a year now, and I’m finally able to make the switch. It will most likely happen next week, so I just wanted to give y’all a heads up. If you have absolutely no clue what I’m talking about, basically, I’m upgrading my site to look a little more professional and to make it easier for you to navigate, especially on mobile devices. I’ll give more details when the switch actually happens.
Have a great weekend, friend! Hope it’s a beautiful one.
Are we connected? Don’t miss a thing…

So glad you have been able to enjoy some extra time together! My fave concealer I used when I was young and then picked up again last year when the Pioneer Woman had it on her blog….Plus it’s cheap enough to have an extra in my purse for those long days when the circles are harder to cover! :) https://www.covergirl.com/beauty-products/face-makeup/concealer/cg-smoothers-concealer
Hope you have a beautiful weekend!
