Happy Friday again! This week went by super slow and super fast all at the same time. Does that ever happen to you? Things are getting back to a new normal around here, and we’re kind of all about it. I’m trying to get back into a rhythm and good schedule, balancing out daily chores, child rearing, family time, time with friends, work (blogging), and down time now that M is back at work. And so far, so good. I usually don’t get everything done that I set out to do in the day, but I do what I can, and it helps me sleep better at night knowing I didn’t do “all the things.” Why? Because that means I’ll have purpose in the morning.
Lately though, I have been excited about so many things, and I don’t even know where to start. Writing is a big one, and it feels so good to have that back. In other news, I’m currently 18 weeks along with baby boy, and I’m starting to feel flutters making this belly aching a whole lot more fun. However, now I feel like I have a million things to do. But let me not get ahead of myself. Let’s focus on the little things (and some big things). Here are a few of my favorite things this week…
ONE.
This girl. Do I even have to explain myself? She drives me batty and makes my heart want to explode simultaneously, and I can’t believe how big she’s getting. I was going through my camera roll on my phone, and she has changed so much. She loves doing anything we do, so shopping is no exception.
Last weekend, we headed to our favorite shops in The Woodlands and grabbed a few new things we’ve been needing. We popped into Vineyard Vines, and let me just tell you that their store has the best customer service for people with kids. Charlotte was able to color, prance around freely, and they even gave her a ballon and a sticker. She was in heaven. We ended up leaving with two new t-shirts for her (they’re boy t-shirts for reference, but they’re so cute on her): this Kentucky Derby design and another cute t-shirt similar to this one. They’ll be great hand-me-downs if she doesn’t stain them to the point of no return.
TWO.
Essie Gel Setter / Essie Marshmallow /Essie Ballet Slippers / OPI I Love Applause / Essie Mod Square / OPI Koala Berry / OPI Big Apple Red
I just pulled these bad boys out, and it should come as no surprise that my favorite nail polishes for the spring and summer season are classic colors. I usually skip the trends and stick with these shades at all times. I normally go to the salon and get Shellac in a color similar to any of these, but “aint nobody got time for that” these days, making this little at-home arsenal my favorite. I have two more light pinks in my Amazon cart, but I think I’m good to go for now. Now if only I could find the time to polish my nails.
Here’s the game-changer: this Essie Gel Setter is amazing, and it really does give you a chip-free polish for at least a week. (I like to do two coats of it for good measure.) Definitely try it out if you need a great top coat to keep your polish looking salon-worthy. Do you have a favorite go-to color for spring/summer?
THREE.Remember when I went to Austin to visit my sister and it was just a girl’s weekend and M stayed behind? Somewhere on social media, I shared that he surprised me when I got home with a fresh coat of paint in our bedroom. I love the color! (You can see what it used to be in this post, and the shade of blue it was, was not what we wanted it to be.) We had this color in our office turned playroom, and I love how light it is when the sun is shining through. It does have a hint of blue, but the gray is cool and calming. The color’s name is Behr’s Silver Sateen #UL260-16.
FOUR.
I’ve shared before how much I love my First5 app (and even shared this yesterday on Facebook). I’ve been trying to be diligent about reading it everyday, and it certainly sets the tone and gets my mind right for a good day. Thursday’s devotional was definitely one that I needed to hear. Here’s a little excerpt:
Leviticus 24:1-2 (NIV) “The LORD said to Moses, ‘Command the Israelites to bring you clear oil of pressed olives for the light so that the lamps may be kept burning continually.'”
“Where light is needed, oil is needed. But getting the oil from the olive requires a pressing and crushing…”
Think about that. If we’re like the olives, we will require pressing and crushing to be oil for the lamp. And we all are meant to be the light, so there you go, people. Only pressing and crushing can bring forth oil for the lamp. If you have the First5 app, just go to Thursday’s reading in the archives, “When Hardship Becomes Purpose” to read the whole thing.
FIVE.And last but not least, you guys are killing me with your sweet comments in our reader survey! You seriously are the best blog community in all the land, and I can’t wait to give you more of what you love. If you haven’t taken the survey yet, you can fill it out here or here. I appreciate you times a million for taking the time to fill it out. I’ll leave it open until next week, that way next Friday I can go over a few things I’ll need from you to get the ball rolling on what’s coming next.
Have the best weekend ever! You deserve it. See you here next week, friend.

Wow, thank you for sharing that ‘our crushing’ is what often brings out the most beautiful, refined precious gold in us. It’s hard to go through trials, but it’s a reminder that God wants us to grow, and grow closer to Him. Because of Jesus, Em

You are so welcome! It sure is hard to go through it, but we are so much stronger and so much more capable than we know all because of Him–we need only trust him. I’m glad you enjoyed this, Em! Take care. :)
