I started this blog post last week, and I never finished it. From manning the house while the hubs was out of town to work to manning the house because he came down with the flu to dealing with Colin’s 4 month sleep regression, things have been coo coo for coco puffs around here. Insert crazy face emoji. But things seem to be on the up and up, so cheers to the weekend and a coffee date chit chat because I’m bringing back my Currently Confessing posts.
ONE :: FEELING…
thankful. In my first blog post of the year when I shared that I was dealing with postpartum depression, the amount of love that you all sent was remarkable. I’m so thankful for your support and so grateful to the many messages that I received personally. Notes of encouragement and messages of mamas telling me they felt a little less alone because they were going through the same thing each meant so much to me. Thank you. Thank you from the very bottom of my heart.
This is a battle I’m still fighting, but the days are getting better and better. I’m feeling more like myself every day and my gumption for life is coming back, too. I’m loving blogging again. I’m loving getting up each day. And I’m loving dressing my kids in cute clothes and taking photos of them again. Those were all things that had gone away, but they’re coming back! Hallelujah.
If you’re in the trenches of postpartum funkiness, know that you are not alone. Postpartum depression is a real thing, and I plan on writing more about it. You WILL get through it. Be your own advocate. Get help for yourself. You are strong and capable. Don’t ever forget that.
Now for some lighter topics…
TWO :: READING…
I’ve been reading Emily Giffin’s First Comes Love, and I’m loving it. These days, it takes at least six months for me to read a book (okay, maybe longer), but I’m half way through it, and I love how Emily Giffin tells the story from the two perspectives of sisters. It’s about family, love, and courage. If you’re a fan of Chick Lit, this one is a great one to add to your list. It also was on my Summer Reading List (you know…my fantasy wish list of books I wanted to/want to read).
I also have The Magnolia Story and Grace, Not Perfection on my nightstand begging to be read. Both were Christmas gifts.
THREE :: WATCHING…
Netflix. Like a crazy woman. Since I have been dealing with PPD, I’ve been super easy on myself. Grace upon grace upon grace. I’ve let things go, cleared my calendar, and have been enjoying some much needed downtime. In that downtime, I’ve been catching up on all the shows I’ve been wanting to watch.
First up was The Crown. Oh, how I loved the cinematography, acting, and costumes! If you haven’t watched it, you must! It won the Golden Globe for Best Drama for a reason.
Then, I started watching Grey’s Anatomy again. I had stopped watching after Christina left, but then I hopped back in when Derek made his heart-wrenching departure. Ever since then, I had been jaded and bitter and wanted nothing to do with it. But I started watching it again, and OMG. While there have been better seasons, the last season was really good. I just got caught up with the current season, and if Karev leaves, I will be devastated yet again. Ugh. I’ve invested 13 years of my life to this show, so I can’t give it up now.
And then there’s This is Us. If you are not on this bandwagon, what are you waiting for! The real-life emotions in this series is better than anything I’ve ever seen displayed. Although, I’ve never watched Parenthood, and I hear its equally as good.
What are you loving right now? I think I need to start a Facebook group just to discuss ALL THE SHOWS. So much to say! Would you be in?
FOUR :: LISTENING TO…
John Mayer. He just released four of his songs from his new album, and he’s calling it his “first wave.” My favorite is “Changing.” The lyrics are perfect for us 30-somethings. And it has a guitar solo. So yay for more Mayer! Finally. I can’t wait until his tour, which I will not miss.
I need to start making a new running playlist, and these songs are way too chill for that. Any running song suggestions?
FIVE :: PLANNING…
So much.
Personally, I want to continue to improve my health. Because duh.
Business-wise, I want to continue to grow this blog, because I kind of love this space. I’m planning on updating the site’s design soon, and I’m super excited about that. It needs to function better. Are there any specifics you want to see in the new site design? Any suggestions on what you’d like it to look like?
For my babies: I’m planning on finishing Colin’s nursery soon, and I can’t wait to hang up this mobile by Boogie & Lu. It’s gorgeous! I’m also planning Charlotte’s 4th birthday party. It’ll be super small with family only, and that has me excited and pinning like a crazy woman, too.
Now I’ll leave you with a few pictures from life lately…
Hands full, heart full.
Happy weekend, friend! Have a blessed one. Xoxo
P.S. Are we friends on Instagram? I’m loving InstaStories these days.

I am so glad to hear you’re feeling more and more like yourself again. It really stinks feeling off and I’m glad you’re digging your way out of it. You’re a strong lady, my friend :) I would love a FB tv show group — brilliant idea! Just a place to drop in and chat it up would be really fun. Excited to see your new design!

So glad you’re feeling better!
“Medici” on Netflix is another period piece that I’ve been liking a lot, and of course if you didn’t get into “Reign” the first couple seasons are very worthy.
“This is Us” is great, no doubt, but it makes me feel very nostalgic, so I can’t gobble it up like some of the more wholly-entertaining period shows. It makes me feel the same way watching “Almost Famous” does, the music must play a big role for me!

I feel like we must have been separated at birth. First, The Crown was AMAZING. I am beside myself thinking about a second season. Second, John Mayer is my absolute favorite everything. I’ve seen him thirteen (I think) times at this point — pregnant with both girls and Ella has already seen him once. My husband gives all his girls a giant eyeroll, but we’re a little obsessed. ;)

This is Us- My absolute favorite show on right now! I am going to sob like crazy when they reveal how Jack died. Not only am I the same age as the triplets, so the flashbacks are like my own memories of that time, but I lost my Dad suddenly about 6 years ago, so even just the funeral flashbacks on the show leave me crying!!

So glad to hear you’re feeling good (better) and are excited about blogging again. I love this space of yours and can’t wait to see how you grow it in the future! And I’m also obsessed with This is Us. I need to watch the Crown and finish Greys. We just finished Stranger Things (so creepy) and are making our way through How I Met Your Mother (so funny) right now.
