Saturday night and Sunday…
Saturday night, Michael decided to get in the Christmas spirit, too, and take down all of our Christmas decorations from the attic. Since our Christmas tree goes in the corner of our living room, we had to reconfigure Charlotte’s “playroom.” All of her toys were housed in our main living space, and being the super smart person I am, I mentioned that we should empty out our office and turn it into a playroom. On a Saturday night. I’ve mentioned it before, but this time, I actually had a plan of action, and Michael wasted no time to get it done. So after a full day of shopping and a margarita, we moved our furniture, and rearranged and transformed the office into a playroom. As seen first on Instagram. ;) I’m so glad we did it, because Charlotte spent all day Sunday playing in her new space. I still have some work to do in making the space function better, but I guess that’s part of the fun.

Tuesday, my birthday…
My birthday was probably my most favorite birthday I’ve had in quite some time. After I dropped off Charlotte at Mother’s Day Out, I headed to the vet’s office for a check-up for Chapman, then I scooted off to get my birthday drink from Starbucks. After I dropped Chapman back off at home, I went to get my nails done. Staying at home every day has not always been a walk in the park, but there are days that definitely have its perks, like this one. We originally had no plans for the evening, but Michael had texted me early in the day and asked where I would like to go. I mentioned Italian food, and he ran with that and said he was taking me into to town to my favorite place, Maggiano’s.
This was Charlotte and me before we walked in. Clearly, I was excited to be there. Michael even obliged happily to take this photo, which was just a tad peculiar since he usually rolls his eyes at picture taking. I thought we were making the most of the day by going to into town, just the three of us, but little did I know I was in for the biggest surprise ever.
As soon we walked in, Michael told me we would have to wait to be seated, which I thought was kind of funny because I saw plenty of empty tables, but I let him do his thing. Charlotte and I waited in the bar area of the restaurant, took a seat, and started looking at the menu. As we were getting settled, Michael joined us, and I was busy making sure Charlotte wasn’t falling off the bar stool. Then out of nowhere, I heard a huge “SURPRISE” and I could have sworn I heard my mom’s voice. I turned around and saw all of my family filing in, my mom, my grandma, my aunts, one of my uncles, and two of my cousins. Holy basket case. It took me a while to register what was happening, but as soon as I did, I started bawling. Living two hours away from my family isn’t always easy, but it makes surprises doable, like this one. I couldn’t believe they drove all that way after work just to have dinner with us to celebrate my birthday, and then drove back the same night. Family is everything. And I couldn’t be more blessed to have them.
They sure did get me good. My Aunt Hope thought of the idea, then my mom made the arrangements with Michael all that day! How crazy is that? I had no idea I would spend my birthday with them, but I couldn’t have dreamed up a better day. My cup runneth over yet again.

Wednesday…
The next day, my dad called and said he was driving up to Houston to have lunch with us. The surprises were non-stop this week, folks! It was a beautiful day, so we dined out on the patio at El Tiempo. Charlotte ate the green sauce like there was no tomorrow and even ate it with a fork. I just can’t with her sometimes. She’s been a champ of a eater this week, so I’m happy she’s happy.
We had a great lunch with my dad, and Charlotte loved dancing around for her Pawpaw. Crazy girl.
Later that evening we decided to finally decorate the Christmas tree. We had put it up over the weekend, but we finally decorated Wednesday night. Like every year, we turn on National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and deck the halls. This year was really special, because Charlotte loved helping. She kept oohing and ahhhing over the ornaments and placed several on the bottom of the tree. Even my type A tendencies didn’t interfere with her decorating. She did a great job! I just love this time of year, and we can’t wait to continue the traditions with her. I hope to share more pictures with the tree later. You know, for detail’s sake.
After we decorated the tree, I headed out to girls night at one of my friend’s house. Just another great day in the neighborhood. Are you still keeping up? I barely did.

Thursday…
Sharing all of these new things with her makes my heart want to burst. She is the sweetest of sweet, and I am having too much fun watching her grow.
Let me just backtrack and say that I started off the day with bible study with some of my favorite ladies at church, then headed to the school for the party. After the party, we headed home. While Charlotte napped, I picked out our Christmas cards and accessories from Tiny Prints. Then I made dinner. After we had dinner, our sweet neighbor came to babysit Charlotte, and off we went back into the city for a concert. Sweet baby Jesus, this has been the most full week we’ve had in a long time.
I guess you could say that this was my first real rock concert at a small venue. It was at House of Blues downtown, and it was really fun. I was hesitant at first, because it’s not really my type of music, but we upgraded to a VIP table and enjoyed it from seats, away from the moshing and crowd surfing. Thank goodness! I don’t thing I could have handled all that. Anyway, I ended up liking the second band called Rx Bandits. Circa Survive was the headliner, which was who Michael really wanted to see, and they were highly entertaining. We left a little early, but it still put us home close to midnight. We had a great date night though, and that’s really all that matters.
So now we’re here to Friday, and I’m finally taking a minute to soak it all in. I’ve been trying to get this blog post out since 8 this morning, but you know how life goes. If you read this entire thing, bless you! Thank you to everyone who wished me happy birthday, and I hope you have a fabulous weekend wherever you are. Talk to you soon, friend!
Oh, the Napa recap is coming soon I hope. Now you know why I’ve had no time to get that one together. LYLAS. ;)

Gosh, that was a good week. It was a great November, and now I’m thinking this month will be equally as great. I’ve been keeping myself busy to not stay still too long, because if I did, I would wallow in grief. But I know my grandpa wouldn’t want that, so I’m trying to make the most of the season like he’d want me to. :) Thanks, Tiff! Love ya!
