And just like that…we’re back to Currently Confessing blog posts! Remember how I used to write these all the time? So fun. Here’s a little summer recap.
Hmm…let’s see, where to begin? Let’s start with how much fun we’ve had this summer. We’ve done beach trips, family trips, and so much more. I’ve gone on a Young Living work retreat at my most awesome friend’s lake house, had Charlotte go to volleyball camp and art classes, had visits from my dad, celebrated my sister’s 30th a year later, the kids went to VBS and then left for Nana camp (aka a week with my mom & step-dad) while we got a week off, then it was more beach time. It’s been a fun-filled summer!
Ready for some confessions and favorites?!
ONE.
Our trip to Park City, Utah was by far the best family trip we’ve had in the history of our family trips. The kids had so much fun, and I can’t wait to take them on another plane ride soon.
TWO.
The pool has by far proved to be worth it over and over again this summer. It was a project we saved for for literally years, and I’m so thankful we were able to do it and pay for it cash. We also had it completed before Inflationpalooza 2021, so that in and of itself is a praise. Lots of sacrifice to get to the point of completion, but to now have our backyard oasis? Priceless.
THREE.
All the TV shows! We have watched so many series this summer, and I do not regret it one bit. Here are some of our favorites.
Mare of East Town. I think might have watched this before summer, but it’s been a while since discussing so it deserves to be noted. Kate Winslet was such a great actress in this one. Highly suspenseful and great acting. This one was on HBOMax.
Manifest. We flew through Season 1 & 2 on Netflix, and we’re currently watching Season 3 on Hulu. It’s reminiscent of Lost meets Revenge. Do you remember those shows? They were set to have six seasons but it recently got cancelled from NBC. We’re now hoping that it gets revived elsewhere to at least have one more season. “It’s all connected!”
Virgin River. The new season was so good! We flew through it so fast. I can’t wait for another season, because this year’s cliffhanger was something else. Jack just can’t seem to catch a break, am I right?
Outer Banks. This is another guilty pleasure, and would you believe me if I told you we finished this in one weekend? Because we did. Woogity woogity! So good. The action-packed episodes were the best, and the island cliffhanger was holy coconuts good.
FOUR.
The Bible App. I will continue to share this, because it has done such great things for me. Emotionally, spiritually, and physically. If you haven’t downloaded this yet, you should! It’s the only app I approve of you being addicted to. ;)
FIVE.
The Sweat app. I’ve been up and down with my consistency with this app, but I started working out again in July, and I love it. The ease of picking a program and sticking with it is very simple. It takes some discipline to workout from home, but I’m loving it. I’m currently doing the Lift at Home challenge, and I’ve already noticed some muscle returning. My muscles had disappeared for a while, but they’re making a comeback too!
SIX.
The Beach House. We finally were able to make another visit to our favorite beach house in Port O’Connor, Texas, and it was the best relaxing weekend. It truly refreshes the soul. I’m so glad we were able to go back before I get back to work. It’s also solidified us into one day owning a beach house (and to right now get Colin some bunk beds).
SEVEN.
Charlotte started drill team, and she is loving it! It’s a mix of cheer and drill, and this former drill team mama could not be more excited. We are fully committed until the middle of November, but we are ready. ‘Tis the season of life, and I’m loving it too.
EIGHT.
This diffuser blend. I’ve loved every single summer diffuser blend, but this one has been on repeat. Its scent is reminiscent of the Anthropologie Volcano candle but without the headache. If you want to buy just these oils, click here. I’m sooo excited that you can now grab what you want from the Young Living site now without purchasing a membership. Woohoo!
NINE.
These outfits. I hope I can add more to LiketoKnow.it on a regular basis, but here are some of my favorite outfits (just to give you some inspiration to shop your closet) I’ve worn this summer thus far.
TEN.
Being social media free. Freeing myself of Instagram has been life-changing. Truly. If you missed that, catch the details here.
Technically I’m still on Facebook but not as a full-time business person anymore. Facebook has never really bothered me, because I’m truly on there for the groups I participate in and to update extended family and some of our friends with our family updates. Oh, and to stay up to date with neighborhood happenings and sell some things on Market Place. I did delete the app from my phone though, which forces me to use the Safari version on mobile which makes you want to get off really quickly. And when I do log on through my desktop, it definitely allows me to monitor my time better than I ever used to.
This first week of making the change has proved already to be 1000% worth it. I’ve cleaned out my office (finally), started reading again (currently reading The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo) and listening to the audiobook Chasing Vines by Beth Moore.
I’ve been more present, more calm, more patient, more in touch with my friends, and all around more PRESENT. What a gift!
Now we’re in back to school mode. I’ll be talking all about what we’re doing to prepare in next week’s blog posts, along with some teacher outfit inspiration and back to school clothes for the kids.
Have a blessed weekend!!!!
