I’m officially 25 weeks today and whole lot puffier and more gray-haired than my last bumpdate, but I wanted to wait to give this bumpdate until my 24 week checkup happened, which was yesterday. Everything is great, and my weight is slowly climbing. Surprisingly, I’ve been feeling really good lately. That kind of scares me because I feel like if things have been smooth sailing in the first and second trimester, all the pains and gains will happen in the third trimester. Let’s hope that’s not the case. Anyway, this past month has been filled with tons of rain here in Houston, and not just your regular showers, we’re talking major flooding. We’re all a bit over it. In honor of all the rain, it’s only fitting that for this bumpdate, I have my rain boots on. You better believe it took a whole lot of effort to get these bad boys off. I almost thought I wasn’t going to get a picture because of all the rain, but it stopped for about five minutes at 7:45 p.m, so we snapped these really quickly.
How far along: In the picture above, I’m 24 weeks and 6 days. Only three months and some change before baby boy’s big arrival. That sounds so scary to me. I still can’t believe that I’m going to have another baby some days. (Insert wide-eyed emoji.)
Gender: Boy! We do have a name picked out, but I’m not revealing it just yet. I want to keep something a surprise! Although, we have told our family and friends, and some family have told others, so whatever. You all will know soon enough. You can know his initials though; they’re CMM.
Weight Gain: 14 pounds. That doesn’t sound like a lot, but on any given night, if I feel swollen, add another three pounds on top of that. I’m really feeling swollen and puffy in the face. I drink so much water, but I feel like it’s still not enough to keep the swelling at bay. Maybe it’s the 100% humidity and muggy heat we’ve got going on here in Houston, but my body just doesn’t like me in this state, so it revolts.
Swelling also means my face is starting to morph. I was going through my last bumpdates, and yes, it’s happening: my nose is widening. It happened when I was pregnant with Charlotte, and I’m certain it will happen again, and all the vainness in me is crying big fat alligator tears about it. Whatever. I know it will go back to normal eventually, but it is my least favorite thing about being pregnant. That and the pelvic pressure, constant running to the bathroom to pee, and the back aches. Fun times.
Maternity Clothes: My favorite maternity clothes are dresses. I do love shorts, but it’s getting trickier and trickier to find shirts to go with them that are cute. I feel like I’ve been working with a capsule wardrobe, and I’m loving it. I haven’t wanted to buy any more clothes, because I’m trying to allocate any purchases to the babies (aka Charlotte’s new room & CMM’s nursery).
Sleep: Still sleeping comfortably, but I’m finding I need more of it. I love my Snoogle, and I’m falling asleep early most nights. Our Game of Thrones binge watching usually puts me into a trance after a long day, and I doze off mid-episode. Don’t worry. I still catch up with the episodes.
Best Moment of the Month: Mother’s Day and M’s birthday were pretty great. The end of the school year for Charlotte was so sweet, especially seeing her sing at her first school performance. Also, getting back into a routine has been really nice. M going back to work to a job he really likes and getting settled into it has been the biggest blessing of all!
Miss Anything: Still missing the occasional cold adult beverage. Especially because it’s summer now.
Movement: I can feel this little mister all the time. He’s not doing karate chops just yet, but he does like to flip around a lot, and it’s my favorite.
Cravings: No particular cravings, I’m just hungry for carbs all the time. Sounds like a disaster to me.
Bellybutton: My bellybutton has definitely protruded out already. That happened around 21 weeks.
Ring on or off: I’m still rocking my wedding ring set, but I don’t know how much longer I’ll have it on. I’m telling you. The swelling my body goes through during pregnancy is insane. Every time we go for a walk, my fingers turn hypercolor and get tight and achey.
Looking forward to: Nesting. I’m in full-blown nesting mode already. We started with Charlotte’s room, and once that is done, I’ll move on to the playroom, then the nursery. I’ve been purging and cleaning out all the junk like a crazy lady, and it feels great, but it’s not happening fast enough.
And that’s about the size of it! Literally. ;)

And if you’re pregnant, too, don’t forget to check out the New Mama 101 series where I house all of my pregnancy and motherhood posts.

Looking good! It’s pouring on our side of the world too, so I busted out my hunters today as well (and getting them on and off was a workout). Also, it’s way past my bedtime and I’m still up because I’ve been creeping on all your old posts in the new mama 101 series. Reading Charlotte’s birth story gave me chills, I can’t wait to meet my baby girl! Thanks for sharing your journey (then and now).

Oh, yay! I’m so glad you’ve been enjoying the New Mama posts. Charlotte’s birth story is so sweet to me of course, and I’m glad you enjoyed reading about it too. Your baby’s birth is going to be such a great experience for you, because it will be YOURS! So crazy that I’ll be doing it all over again in September.
And it’s only the beginning with things getting difficult to put on and take off. Lol. It’s going to be a long summer.
Hope you got some rest, friend!

Well, you’re just the sweetest! And I can’t wait for that either. Hope you’re not starving after salad gate yesterday. ;)
