For the past five and a half years, I’ve grown and changed more than I ever thought possible. Motherhood will do that to you. The truth is, becoming a mother, to me, was and is the most humbling, earth-shaking, life-altering experience. I’m completely convinced that when a woman bears a child, she is completely broken down only to be rebuilt again. There are special moments, funny moments, hard moments, painful moments, heart-bursting moments, proud moments, love-filled moments, and everything in between.
If I had to tell a new or expecting mom five things that will change once you have a child, it would be this.
5 Ways You Change After Having a Baby
1. You’re more emotional.
You just thought you were Miss Waterworks when you were pregnant. Wrong. It sticks around for, let’s see, forever. When you have a child of your own, your heart turns to mush. The love and empathy you have for the world kicks it up a notch (or 20), because you play out every scenario with your child (or children) in it, and your maternal instinct wants to fiercely protect and nurture your baby.
That commercial with a mom and dad watching their little grow up in stages? Pass the tissue!
2. Your memory vanishes (well, kinda–it’s called mom brain).
I swear I used to be as sharp as a tack and could think on my feet like no other. Then I had kids. I always tell my husband after having a lapse in thought (that’s putting it nicely) that our kids stole my brain. I cannot remember where or when we have to be somewhere unless I write it down, and one day I’ll remember why I walked into the laundry room or pantry. One day.
3. You’re stronger than you thought.
This is one of my favorite things about motherhood. Just when you think your tired is tired, you keep on going. We don’t get sick days, and when motherhood breaks us down, it is only to build us back up. Never have I been more confident about life in general. Sure there are doubts that enter my mind daily, but overall, I know I’m one strong mother.
4. You get excited about the most random milestones.
Your baby pooped in the potty, that’s awesome! But you will be so excited when they learn how to eat with a fork or sit through a movie for the first time. When you’re a mom, and it’s your child, you get excited about everything! “You drew a stick figure?! That’s amazing!” Your little one learned how to bring you toilet paper when you asked for it? Now that is a milestone to write in the memory book.
5. Your hormones and period are out of whack for what seems like forever. Never be caught off guard! Always carry Always Radiant, because you are!
I’ll never forget coming home from the hospital after having my first baby, dreading the fact that I would be wearing a pad for months on end. Once the initial post-baby pad wearing came to a halt, it was anybody’s guess when the monthly cycle would show back up. And let’s just say that your hormones are on the biggest rollercoaster of their life after having a baby.
Once my period did return, it wasn’t pretty. At least this was my experience. Aunt Flo came back with a vengeance, and she’ll probably sneak up on you too. But that’s okay, because you will be armed and ready with the best pads on the market, Always Radiant Pads.
Remember that part about being stronger than you thought and more confident than you’ve ever been? That means you’ll always want to look and feel your best. Even during that time of the month, a stylish lady like yourself should always feel confident and covered, no matter what we’re wearing.
Using the Always Size Selector Tool™, we can easily find the right-sized Always Radiant pad for every unique monthly cycle. I just tried this, and it’s pretty awesome! You can find your perfect pad based on your specific needs and comfort.
The beauty of Always Radiant Pads is that they are up to 100% leak and odor free, available every day at Walmart’s low prices. Geared toward fashion-forward ladies, the FlexFoam absorbs 10 times its weight for protection we can place our confidence in for up to 10 hours of protection, so we can all look and feel our best.
Motherhood is the best thing that has ever happened to me, changes and all. Thankfully, the one thing that hasn’t changed is being radiantly stylish. Be radiant, sisters. You are ABLE.
