As busy moms, we rarely get the time we need to unwind. It’s hard to sometimes get away from it all. I find myself longing for a vacation after a long day or a long week with my little princess. Don’t get me wrong, I love my job of being a stay-at-home mom, but all moms needs a little “me-time” every now and then to recharge the batteries. Wouldn’t it be nice to unwind and feel like you’re at a spa in the comfort of your own home? Enter the mom staycation, a mini-vacation in your own abode, recreating a spa-like atmosphere to get you recentered and realigned.
Last week, I was feeling pretty exhausted. I had been running myself ragged saying “yes” to everyone else but myself. I had to stop the madness and say yes to some alone time. We went to the mothership, also known as Target, picked up some fruit and magazines, and headed home where I was bound and determined to relax. I put the mini down for a nap and took every effort to focus on myself. (If nap time isn’t an option, call for reinforcements, as in a babysitter or let the little people have some daddy time.) Here are my five tips to achieve the ultimate mom staycation.
MOM STAYCATION
1. REFRESH.
The first thing you need to do to get your spa-like space ready is to make a spa-like drink.
I love citrus and sweet, so I made orange and blueberry infused water. Spa water is my favorite, and it’s the easiest thing ever. All you need is a pitcher, two oranges, a carton of blueberries, ice and filtered water. I rinsed all the fruit then sliced my oranges. I layered the blueberries at the bottom, then threw in the orange slices, filled the pitcher with ice, then poured the filtered water in. It’s one of the best refreshing drinks, and I’m pretty sure you’ll love it as much as I do.
2. REJUVENATE.
When do you feel rejuvenated? I know for me, music fills my soul with peace and gets me going.
When I’m alone or not listening to a Disney movie in the car, I love to listen to an old playlist. I made this 90s playlist a while back, and it really is my jam. The hubs and I built it together, so it has majority of all the best 90s alternative hits. I turned this on as soon as I was getting my staycation going.
3. UNPLUG.
4. BE INSPIRED.
Whether it’s a good book or a good magazine, be inspired in your downtime. I have always loved magazines. I used to hoard them by the plenty. But now they are a rare treat. I am always inspired by a new magazine. My favorites are People and People StyleWatch. I love catching up with the latest trends, reading inspirational stories, and of course getting the inside scoop on my favorite celebrities.
5. RELAX.
And the most important thing in order to achieve the ultimate mom staycation is to relax. Prop your feet up, kick back, and indulge in your “me-time.” You so deserve it.
Now you want a mom staycation too, don’t you?

Love this! Your spa water looks delish! And unplugging is key! We get so caught up in social media and what’s going on at that moment (especially as bloggers) that it can be hard, but much needed!

Yes, girl! Sometimes I really need a good ol’ breather. I’m debating whether or not to take my camera on our vacation because do I want to “work” or do I want to have a vacation? So torn! #bloggerlife
