Oh, it’s here! Fall is absolutely my favorite. Even though Texas never gets the memo quite on time, once the clock strikes October 1, I am giddy with excitement. Fall contains ours anniversary, the county fair, Halloween, my birthday, Thanksgiving, pumpkin patches, pumpkin spice lattes, apple cider, hot tea, cool and crisp temps. With all the excitement though, it can easily become a season of overwhelm because you just want to do ALL THE THINGS. Sister, take it easy. Enjoy and savor all the fun, but also enjoy and savor rest for yourself in the midst of all you do.
Here are 4 of my favorite things you can do help you relax this fall:
Take a social media break.
I know for a fact that social media can be just as addictive as any other bad substance. When overused, it can be so toxic. It can go from being a form of inspiration to a form of wanting to keep up and huge form of envy. Why would you want to walk into a space that makes you feel less than?
We all fall trap to this. As a blogger and business owner, being on social media is my job, but I’ve learned my limits and how to use it appropriately in order to save my sanity. I have to take breaks from it. I schedule it in for work tasks and then clock out. If I don’t, I get burned out and cranky. Know your limits and walk away. Leave inspired.
If you need a detox, delete the apps from your phone and add them back when your break was long enough. You’ll feel so much better when you’re out there living rather than living in your phone.
Listen to at least one podcast a week.
Personal development and growth is something I’m so into right now. I’m all about becoming the very best version of yourself. If we try every day to do better than yesterday, we’re on a really good path. Find podcasts that fill your soul and listen to at least one a week. Everyone is so busy these days, but really take time to care of yourself and grow. Some of my favorite right now are Rise Together and RISE.
Even if you aren’t into personal development, you could listen to a podcast of any sort! Zoning out and zoning into a podcast is so therapeutic to me.
Start a gratitude journal.
Grab a pen and notebook, and write down all that you’re thankful for every single day. Each day, think about 10 things you are thankful for and write it down. If you don’t have a notebook, start a journal in your Notes app or in a Google doc. Focus on what you DO instead of thinking about what you don’t. Ten things, big or small, that make your heart happy. Air conditioning in your home, a butterfly that crossed your path, a smile a stranger gave you. Anything. Can you do it?
This is such a great way to end the day. I promise you’ll go from grouchy to thankful in minutes.
Breathe and cozy up during “me time” with some hot tea.
During the fall months (and anytime during the year for me), I love sipping on hot tea! I have an electric tea kettle and love the sound of it percolating. Making a hot cup with honey just puts me in my happy place. It’s honestly one of my favorite ways to wind down for the night.
With a hot cup of tea in hand, cozy up with your comfiest blankets and just breathe. Let go of the day, and unwind during this busy fall season.
One of my favorite tea brands is Celestial Seasonings. They package their teas in natural fiber, pillow-style tea bags that don’t need a string, tag, staple or individual wrapper. Doing this saves more than 3.5 million pounds of waste from entering landfills each year! You know I’m all about know better, do better, so these definitely are the best in my book.
Celestial Seasonings was founded more than 40 years ago with one goal: to provide delicious, high quality teas that are good for customers and the world. They offer such a wide variety of flavors and are leaders in sustainability. Three of my favorite flavors are Vermont Maple Ginger, Honey Vanilla Chamomile, and Sleepytime. So, so yummy!
You can find this hidden gem at Walmart! Celestial Seasonings has great taste, unique blends, and a great price point! You can even add to your cart online and do grocery pick-up.
