We made it to another Friday! Can I get an Amen? Although, I’m not sure what I’m cheering about because it looks like this weekend will be just as busy as this week was. The ball just keeps on bouncing. Anyway, enough about me, how are you? I’m envisioning you’re on some fancy vacation, casually perusing the interwebs, waves crashing in the background, Mai Tai in hand. No? Yeah, me either. But maybe, just maybe, these things will brighten your Friday.
ONE.
I really wish I could take full credit for this, but it is all my husband’s brilliant idea. He also has a Starbucks habit (although not as bad as mine) because his office building houses a Starbucks. His drink of choice is the Americano. He does not play around. He knows I love lattes; and now that it’s summer, he knows my love for iced coffee. In an effort to curb my Starbucks spending, he came up with making our own iced coffee at home but still using Starbucks as the base. By using his regular drink of choice, he came up with a solution for me. So, here’s what you do if you love Starbucks but don’t want to pay them with your arm and your leg every single time.
The Starbucks Iced Coffee Hack
1. Buy a Starbucks Grande Americano. (That’s three shots of espresso with some water in case you don’t speak Starbucks.) This will cost you roughly around $3.
2. Go home.
3. Gather all of your favorite coffee fixings and grab a glass for yourself and whoever is with you.
4. Fill your glass with ice.
5. Pour about 4 oz. of the Americano into your glass. (Pour a little more if you have a bigger glass.) Remember, this is espresso we’re talking about. It doesn’t take much.
6. Fill the rest of the glass with milk/cream/coconut milk/soy milk/whatever “milk” suits your fancy. I personally use coconut milk.
7. Stir in a sweetener of your choice. I use palm sugar. I keep my coffee semi-Paleo friendly. Of course that is if you’re in the camp who believes coffee is Paleo-friendly.
8. Refrigerate the leftover Americano for future iced coffee goodness.
9. Enjoy your iced coffee!
A grande Americano will make you 4 iced coffees for about 75 cents each. That’s it! If you were to buy a Venti Iced Coffee from Starbucks, it would cost you about $3.50 just for one. I don’t want to get into how much you’d save and yada yada, because I hate math, but I will say that doing this is basically getting Starbucks iced coffee for free. You’re welcome.
TWO.
this Frozen baseball cap. I mentioned this hat in yesterday’s splash pad essentials post, but Charlotte hadn’t worn it just yet. And now she has. And now we’re both in love with it. If your mini is Frozen obsessed too, you need this in your life.
THREE.
all the Disney classics. I posted this picture on Instagram not too long ago, but I need to mention it again. We finally are giving Frozen a little break from our big TV screen, and we’ve moved on to Beauty and the Beast! Charlotte is in LOVE with it. I think since it’s full of singing and dancing she is all about it. And when she saw the library scene for the fist time, she shouted out, “Beautiful!” Be still my heart. She loves Belle, and she even loves the Beast. It is the cutest thing to watch. I’m so glad that I bought/received all of these classics a few years ago, because most of these are going for a pretty penny. The Disney vault, y’all. Stock up while you can. What classic is your favorite?
FOUR.
this book, Everything I Need to Know I Learned From a Little Golden Book. I saw this book the other day when we were in Target, and it quickly flew into my basket. Please tell me you grew up reading these Little Golden Books. This compilation is pretty much life’s handbook with Golden Book illustrations. Charlotte loves it. I love it. It’s a hit all around. I hope to save this one forever.
FIVE.
Maybelline Lash Sensational. I’ve always loved Maybelline mascara, but I switched it up from my regular routine, and I’m loving this new mascara. It has a fanning brush, 10 layers of bristles, and really lengthens your lashes like no other with just one coat. I always use blackest black, and I’m pretty sure this will bought from here on out.
And that’s all I have for you today. I hope you have a wonderful weekend filled with lots of sun, fun, and laughter. Talk to you soon, girlfriend!
Let’s keep in touch, shall we?

Okay, so WHERE did you get Beauty and the Beast????!!!!! I feel like Disney has it in their vault right now b/c I can’t find it anywhere and A is dying for it! We’ll be picking up Aladdin soon and our collection is complete except B&TB.
Yes to Little Golden Books! I have like 50ish from my childhood and they are my faves to read. I need to find that book at Target next week.
Love the iced coffee hack. Thank goodness I get the discount or I’d be in major coffee debt. :)
Have a great weekend my dear!

I got it a two years ago I think. :/ I found it on Amazon and linked it, but it is over a hundred dollars. I don’t know when the vault will be releasing it again. I’ll do some research and let you know.
Aren’t the Little Golden Books the best? This new one is amazing.
And you are so lucky to have Starbucks in your backyard! Our blogger group needs to make trip to your neck of the woods. ;)
Happy weekend, Tiffany!

Ohhhh I always love mascara recommendations! Yes to any kind of Starbucks hack especially ones that save money!
Kristy says
Woohoo! Glad you like them, Amanda! That mascara is my favorite for sure. And of course, the Starbucks money-saver is a no brainer. :)

I am on that Starbucks hack!! that will be me tomorrow!!! Hope you girls are having a fabulous Friday!!
Kristy says
Did you try it? We had a good weekend. Hope you guys are having a good week!

That starbucks hack is brilliant, if only I was still a coffee drinker. I probably will be again after baby is here ;) I so want Beauty and the Beast for Scarlett but it’s impossible to find for a reasonable price!! I can’t stand the Disney vault business… can you at least buy them all AT Disney land/world? haha probably not.
Kristy says
Isn’t it awesome? M always thinks of brilliant things. Did you see that I linked the B&theB movie on the Facebook page? And always check Amazon. Apparently BluRay UK imports will work just fine on any BluRay player. I haven’t tested that method, but it is “region free.” Whatever that means.

I remember when I was your daughter’s age and almost everyday during the summer, I was outside playing with chalk! Your pictures brought back such fantastic memories- so thanks for that. ;) How awesome that you have all of the classics! I love Disney movies and I could watch them all the time. Do you own Aristocats? That’s always been a personal favorite of mine!
Kristy says
Aww, that is the sweetest Julia! I don’t own Aristocats, but i probably should. It’s my sister’s favorite. :) Hope you’re having a good week!

I saw that book somewhere the other day! I really wanted to buy it because golden books were always my favorite but of course it was like $30 so I am going to wait until I go home or order one from Amazon. Lattes are my favorite so I will definitely have to try out this hack!
Kristy says
Yes, the book is way cheaper on Amazon! I think that’s where I linked it to. Lattes are my favorite too. For sure. Hope you’re having a good week!

I will definitely be looking for that Golden Book…book. ha. So cute! And I can’t wait for Stella to start watching all the Disney princess classics! I have most of them already.

Love the iced coffee hack! That’s a GREAT idea! I know you said you make your own drinks at home like my soy chai latte hack. :) Great minds think alike!

For sure, Kelli! My husband loves to recreate things. And then I get to enjoy them. :)

Awesome coffee idea! Have you ever bought Trader Joe’s cold brew? That’s my favorite way to make an iced coffee at home! And I *might* be sharing it on my blog later this week! ;)
Kristy says
I haven’t! When we were hard-core doing Paleo, anything with dairy was a no-no. Or is what you’re talking about just coffee? That’s why we do our own version, to make sure it’s dairy-free. I’m sure it’s delicious though. Trader Joe’s can do no wrong.
Liz | Ellie And Addie says
TJ’s cold brew is just extra strength coffee so you can add whatever “dairy” you want to it! Or you can even add just cold water!
Kristy says
Oh, awesome! I’ll definitely pick it up the next time I go. It’s rare that I go though, so Starbucks hack until then. ;)
