We are winding down on our 12 Days, and these readings so far have helped me tremendously. Have they helped you? I’m actually more calm and at peace with the coming of Christmas than I have been in a long time. Sure, I have just as many things on my calendar as you do, but when God is in your heart and is ever-present, loving His people is easy and everything else is secondary. That’s my wish for each and every one of you: peace and stillness to enjoy this season. So how are we going to love on God’s people today?
DAY 9 READING
This reading, y’all. Click on the link above and go read today’s word. It’s when Jesus taught his disciples how to pray. Isn’t that incredible? Jesus gave us instructions on how to pray. It’s where we get the “Our Father.” Give us each day our daily bread.
Then Jesus goes into a story about the friend who comes knocking at your door at midnight asking for bread. Jesus tells them, even if the neighbor doesn’t want to get out of bed, he will because it’s the right thing to do.
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Luke 11: 9-10
Jesus ends that parable telling them, if a father gives a son good gifts here on earth because his son has asked, imagine what God our Father will give us when we ask for His help.
And all the mamas say Amen.
What do you need from God today, friend? Ask and you will receive.
DAY 9 CHALLENGE
Stemming off of yesterday’s reading, let’s look again at how we can help God’s people as instructed by the Bible. How can we be someone else’s daily bread?
You got it, today we’re going to go through our pantry (or pick up a few things from the store) and donate yummy food (not the leftovers).
How many people are aching right now for food, clothing, shelter? While we might not be able to save the world (Jesus already did that), we can do what we can where we can.
Be blessed, friend! Go be a light today.
