Day 10 is here! How has your Advent been going, friend? Have these readings and small tasks been helpful? Advent is a season of waiting, and sometimes it’s hard to wait, am I right? Patience isn’t easy. It takes humility, trust, faith, and discipline. I pray for each of those virtues daily.
Some people might ask, but why? Why do we need to wait? It’s in the waiting that we see what we lack, and it’s in the waiting that we look to the One who fills up the gap.
I just read this last night on Proverbs 31 Ministries and thought it was fitting for today’s reading:
“Advent is…It is the mingling of the yet to come with the not yet.
Advent signifies hope and anticipation, waiting for Jesus to come and rescue us from the grave — from our brokenness and sin…
We celebrate the coming of Jesus, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Jesus always shows up in our lives, and Advent is a celebration of that profound, life changing truth.”
We need these reminders of truth. Just like it says in Galatians, chapter 4, we prepare and mature our hearts just like a child must grow and mature before they are ready to face the world as an adult.
DAY 10 READING
“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, ‘Abba! Father!’ So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.” Galatians 4: 4-7 (ESV)
You see, friend, you are already an heir to the throne. You don’t have to earn it; Jesus already did that for us. You are worthy and loved beyond measure. All you have to do is live it. Live it out with confidence.
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (NKJV)
While we’re still human and while we are still sinners, Jesus was born on this earth to die for us. Isn’t that incredible? He came to be WITH US, our God, our Immanuel, to die for us, so that he would be WITH US for all eternity.
What has God done recently to show that he is WITH you? How can we be like him today? How can we show our “with-ness” to others?
DAY 10 CHALLENGE
Spread a little joy today and show someone you are there for them. Surprise someone with coffee or a special treat. Be that gentle reminder that God is with them.
Be blessed today and always. Jesus is near!
