Six Months With Baby Boy: A Life Update

Oh my goodness! Has it really been six months with baby boy? I can’t believe I haven’t shared a monthly update about Colin since he was two months old. Major fail. My sweet little man has grown so much since then! I guess after he turned two months old, things started to get really crazy, then it was the holidays, then my postpartum depression kicked in, and then I climbed my way out of that, and now we’re here.

To me, six months old is such a sweet spot. This was also a favorite month for me with Charlotte, too. They’re just so cuddly, smiley, babbly (is that a word?), and their world is just exploding with one milestone after another.

In an effort to not have a bazillion pictures in this post, I thought creating a fun little collage to see how much my little guy has grown would be way more fun.

Big Milestones

Four Months: rolling over from tummy to back

Five Months: sleep trained in his crib and put on a schedule (more on that soon!), sitting up with support

Six Months: eating solids and getting his bottom two teeth

Colin is 19 pounds now and eats a ton! He nurses 4-5 times a day and has two meals. Right now, we’re just giving him fruit and vegetables, but he should move up to meats soon. I can’t imagine what his appetite will be like when he’s on solids alone. Goodness gracious! People weren’t lying when they told me boys eat a lot.

He’s 26.5 inches and wears 6 month clothing pretty comfortably. I can’t wait to get him some cute spring clothes. I am loving little boys clothes now. At first I was “meh” about it, but I’m loving the challenge and have found some really cute things lately.

He absolutely loves his sister and daddy, and making him laugh is the best past time for all of us.

Right now, he loves his jumper activity center, and at night and during naps, he sleeps so well in the DockATot in his crib. I don’t know what we’d do without that thing. We travel with it, and he sleeps like a dream in it.

Although it’s been a huge adjustment to transitioning to life with two kids, I couldn’t imagine our life without him. He’s the missing piece to our puzzle that we never even knew was missing. He brings us so much joy and laughter, and I’m blessed beyond measure to have these two babes to watch over in this life.
