Yesterday we ventured out to our first splash pad adventure in Houston proper. This was a first for us, but we were so excited to do so because we finally got to meet up with some awesome friends I’ve made through the blogging world. It was so much fun to meet up with some of my favorite ladies and to finally meet some new blogging friends in real life. Amazing day for sure! This splash pad adventure had me scrambling though the day before, making sure we had everything we needed for a fun water day. So what do you take with you to a splash pad/pool play date? These are our essentials for a day spent splashing around.
FOR THE MINI
![](https://www.sevengracesblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/IMG_6918-1100x759.jpg)
- Ruffle Butts rash guard bathing suit
- Babiators sunglasses
- Huggies Little Swimmers
- Old Navy flip-flops
- wipes & Wet Ones
- pony tail holders (multiple)
- Honest sunscreen
- Contigo sippy cup filled with water
- Munchkin snack cup with cereal
- Pretzel Crisps (I found the more snacks, the better.)
- Earth’s Best Organic Fruit Smoothie
- Frozen beach towel
- extra set of clothes for after water play
- diapers & Skip Hop “on the go” changing mat
- Doc McStuffins bandaids (just in case)
- baseball cap or hat
FOR THE MAMA

- beach bag (mine is from Target, found here)
- cat eye “Prada-look-alike” sunglasses
- Calvin Klein one-piece (similar). I chose to wear a bathing suit because I know my little clinger.
- Tory Burch Miller sandals
- Mossimo shorts (similar)
- J.Crew chambray “cover-up” shirt (I’ve worn this shirt probably 100 times over the past three years.)
- Starbucks iced latte (because coffee)
- eos Lip Balm

- beach blanket: Krama Wheel Sun Salai Beach Blanket. I don’t have my hands on one of these yet, but it’s in the mail! Quick story about the Krama Wheel brand: Each beach blanket is handcrafted by a weaver in Cambodia. Krama Wheel’s goal is to give children access to education while also empowering artisans to make a living. For each item purchased, a weaver is paid fairly and is better able to support her family. One local seamstress is paid to sew a school uniform, and one child gets a school uniform so he or she can attend school. How cool is that? So while you’re watching your child play from your beach blanket, you can feel good knowing that a mom in Cambodia was able to provide a school uniform for her child because of you. You can read more about Krama Wheel here.
- a top knot (Not pictured. Sorry ’bout that. But you’ve seen my top knot before. Definite necessity.)
And there you have it! All the things you’ll need to make it a great day at the splash pad or pool. Charlotte absolutely loved running around, splashing around, and running around some more. If she wasn’t teething, I’m sure I would have gotten a good nap out of her. Here she is in all her splash pad glory.

I think I’ll keep our bag ready at all times. I had prepared it the night before, and it was great to be able to just pick it up and walk out the door. We’ll definitely be heading to splash pads more often. And now we have a couple of things crossed off our summer bucket list!
Did I miss anything? What do you take to the splash pad or pool?

I love the Ruffle Butts that I bought for Stella. They’re just so stinkin’ cute! Hopefully the water will warm up soon and she can actually wear them into some water. Ha.
Isn’t it so cute, Ashley? I hope it’s warmed up for y’all! Summer is officially here! :)

So fun! I wish I got to go to the pool more this summer :) Can’t wait to have little ones to do it with!
Thanks, Kelli! I need to go to the pool more too. I’m sure you’ll be there soon enough. ;)

Great list! I’ve been slowly adding to our pool bag and you reminded me of quite a few things I’d forgotten!!
Thanks, Liz! I really keep this bag packed at all times. :) I need to add bug repellant, because the mosquitos here are out of control. Lol.
