When I think about my exercise regimen before I had a toddler, I was pretty consistent and loved my alone time to clear my head. Working up a good sweat while running has always been a favorite of mine. Naturally, when Charlotte came along, I had to readjust how I was going to stay active. Little did I know that keeping up with her would be a workout in and of itself. These little feet keep me moving constantly.
Charlotte’s Rack Room Shoes Asics (c/o) // Mama’s Rack Room Shoes Asics (c/o)
More than anything, I want my little mini to know what it means to be active and healthy. Keeping fit with a toddler isn’t always easy. I have to get creative with my workout routines. But somehow we make it work. Fit for me doesn’t mean I’m the most tone or have the skinniest waist size. Fit to me means being healthy, feeling energized, and appreciating the outdoors. When you have a toddler exuding that energy all day, every day, it makes staying active fun.
Charlotte is such a copy cat these days. I love running, and so does she. She loves to do what mommy does. That even means dressing the same. Being that I’m a runner (I’m using that word lightly here), one thing that always gets me motivated is a new pair of shoes. When I get a new pair of running shoes, Little Miss definitely needs a new pair as well. We were thrilled to partner up with one of our favorite shoe stores, Rack Room Shoes, to find the perfect pair. How awesome are these mama and mini Asics?
They are bright, super comfy, and perfect for spring and summer. Asics have always been my running shoe of choice. Rack Room Shoes will now be my go-to one-stop-shop for Asics and plenty more mama and mini shoes. Did you know they offer buy one, get one 50% off every single day? Sold. Not only can we get the best shoes, we also get to save sweet moolah while doing it. I’ll be going there for future purchases of all the latest and greatest trends for Charlotte, the hubs, and myself.
Now that we have a new pair of shoes, we have no excuse to get outdoors and get some exercise. One of my favorite things to do to keep fit is to go for a jog or walk at our nearby park. However, since Charlotte loves running almost as much as I do, it’s hard for me to get her strapped into the jogging stroller at first. I let her run loose for a little bit, burn off some energy, and then I run behind her trying to catch up.
I consider that my warm-up. Once I catch her, I get her situated in her stroller, and we hit the trail. I pull out my favorite playlist that I shared here, listen to it though the built-in speaker so she can hear it too, and we jam out and enjoy a nice stroll or jog (whatever I’m feeling that day) though the park.
When we’re done with the jog/stroll, we enjoy more playtime at the playground. As in, we get even more exercise.
So you see, it’s really not that hard to stay fit with a toddler. When you incorporate fun times outdoors and a new pair of shoes into the equation, you really can’t lose. If I’m really trying to trim down the figure, I stay active like I’ve talked about AND I follow a Paleo eating regimen. You can see how I do that here. Being healthy is what it’s all about. Having fun is the key.
Thanks again to Rack Room Shoes for providing us with the awesome pairs of new running shoes. All opinions are most definitely my own.
What’s your favorite way to keep fit with your toddler? What keeps you motivated? This mama wants to know.
Let’s keep in touch, shall we?

I ADORE this post. Seriously – the photos are so cute, as are those shoes!! I’ve never heard of Rack Room Shoes before but will have to check them out. You and Princess Charlotte are so sweet together – and I loved reading about your fitness routine!

Yay! Thanks, Ailee! This was a fun post to work on and do. :) Charlotte was hilarious though. She just wanted to run around, of course. Lol. TGIF!

Loved this post! We are big fitness people in our house and running has been our favorite thing lately as well. A loves to run and workout with us all the time. She uses water bottles as her “weights.” And yes, they are so fast so we do the same as you; let her run, then strap her in and finish our run up. I’m for sure going to check their site out. I wonder if they have Mizunos! :)

Thanks, Tiffany! Gosh, I can only imagine how Charlotte will want to continue running alongside of me the older she gets. That’s hilarious that A uses the water bottles. :) I don’t know if Rack Room has Mizunos, but I’ve always been an Asics girl, and they have some pretty great deals on them. TGIF, girlfriend!

Cute, cute, cute!! Walking with my girls really burns a lot because dang that double stroller is a beast. Love your shoes! I die at the toddler Ascics.

Thanks, my love! Aren’t those little shoes the cutest?! Charlotte loves them because they’re so bright. :) Man, I bet that double stroller is a beast. Just using a single jogging stroller is a workout in itself for me. Now I just need to work on being more consistent. ;)

CUTE! I love the matching runners :) You girls are so cute! I have been bad with keeping active lately, but I do the same things when I’m doing good :) I have a jogging stroller so that helps, plus we have a bike hitch so we go for bike rides as a family or rollerblading (Scarlett in the stroller). It helps having a dog because i have to get him exercise too haha.

Thanks, Tawnya! You are too sweet!! We have a dog too and poor thing is always begging to be walked. We definitely like to “workout” together. Makes for some fun family time. :) Love ya, girl!

So adorable!!! I love this stage where they love everything that their mama does and just want to do the same! What a great post with the most adorable photos! :) I agree… it CAN be easy to stay fit with a toddler, because they can keep us so busy, we just have to set the stage for it. Love the matching shoes!!! :)

Thanks so much, Tabitha! I am sucker for matching/coordinating outfits. She is such a little copy cat these days, and it’s the cutest thing ever. :) I’m sure you know all about it! Happy weekend, sister! Xoxo

I’m always having to “fight” my 3yr old to use my elliptical. lol. She sticks her baby doll in the cup holder and takes her for walks. I am always a bit jealous of people who get to get outside to exercise. I live rurally but on a busy, busy road. The closest park/walking trails is a 45 minute drive away.
